WOW! WOW! WOW! We booked our Christmas day lunch at the beginning of September, but a medical situation arose which meant my father might not be well enough to attend on the day. I asked the manager, Ellen, if it would be possible to collect the main part of the meal and take it to my parents. Most establishments would not be as accommodating, so knew I was taking a chance, but Ellen did not hesitate and offered to keep it till we were finished and then bring it wrapped up, so it would be warm for them when we delivered it. Fortunately, this was an offer we did not need to take Ellen up on. We arrived and were greeted by a friendly man, I think his name is Mark and Ellen was there too, and I showed her that my dad was well enough to make Christmas lunch. Our table was perfect as it was tucked away, and done up with crackers and name cards with our individual menu selections on the reverse. There was a lovely Christmas card to us all. The food was delicious, the service was impeccable and there are so many little touches that made the day very special. Nothing was too much trouble, so when my partner asked for a pepper sauce which was not on the menu, the waiter went and reappeared with 2 pepper sauce to go with the rib eye main that my dad and partner ordered. Thank you, Broughton Pub team, for making Christmas lunch a hassle-free enjoyable experience and very Merry! See...
Read moreIf you have children, then don’t go to this place. We went with 6 adults and 3 children aged 2 to 4 years, and we asked for a table away from others so we wouldn’t disturb other customers, because only those who have kids know how restless and noisy children can be.
We placed our order, and everything was fine until then. We ate our food, which was very good, by the way. As soon as we finished eating, the kids started playing near the restroom, running back and forth, but there were no other customers nearby. A staff member came over , shouting at us, telling us to keep the children seated. At that moment, I had no reaction and stayed quiet, but later, on the way home, I kept thinking about how rude this attendant was to us, yelling and giving orders for our kids to sit down. I felt like they just waited for us to pay and consume so they could make us feel bad (which they did), and we soon left. She could have approached one of us politely, without yelling or raising her voice, and kindly asked for the children to sit down, even though they weren’t bothering anyone. I will definitely never return to a place where they treat you this way, just because children are being children and not robots as they...
Read moreAbsolutely disgusting high chairs that they want their customers to put babies in. Full of dirt, broken and left outside in the elements but you’re expected to put your baby in it. Vile behaviour of staff! If I could leave 0 stars I would Response: Your fake online apology means absolutely nothing when your behaviour in real life is so bad. You have no people skills, are rude and just a nasty person in general. I would expect more from a manager and feel really sorry for the staff who have to work with you. I will send a formal complaint to Greene King because this is unacceptable. I shouldn’t have to bring things to your attention. I even offered to take the wooden chairs outside by myself but even this was too much of a bother for you. The state of the highchairs from outside is disgraceful. If you’re not allowed to use the wooden chairs outside, then clean the plastic ones! I took plenty of photos I will forward to Greene King. Really curious if they know about this and what their opinion is of the...
