The worst experience we ever had in UK.
We came for a dinner (starting our holidays) as we have no way to eat at home case we are traveling the day after.
We arrived at 8:30 they have sign on the entrance door where clearly says ākitchen open till 9pmā
We came straight to the bar (as we have previous experience when they closed the kitchen before the hour advertised) then the Manager without saying āEveningā or something similar, said in a quite rude way āIām closing the kitchen so you need to order nowā.
Sandra ordered Gyros wrap, and she asked for upgrade hunters fries (extra Ā£2) then Juan asked if they have the Ā£11 two mains deal they have. The manager answer āYesā and then Juan said āthen can I have Fish & Chipsā the manager asked Sandra if she wanted fries or chips, she said she just want the Hunters fries. She become a bit more rude asking 3 times for the same question saying āIām asking the fries for the first mealā when we said we just want the upgrade as is showing in the picture of the menu and she said āok you donāt understandā
We ordered a couple of beers.
Then when we were in the table the same manager (we think sheās name is Lisa) bring the first plate that it was the Wrap and extra plate of Hunters fries and she said āsorry it was a mistake in the kitchen and the made the hunters in extra plateā.
We being served the food in 5min. (Food came at 8.40pm)
We were waiting for the second main 20min.
Then Juan came back to the bar to ask how long he needs to wait for his plate.
In this moment (9pm) the manager said I did not put in the order and she said ākitchen is closed is nothing I can doā we asked whatās the solution she can give us and she said āis nothing I can doā I explained that was not my mistake and I came to eat and basically she was telling me she donāt care if Iām leaving without eat.
Then she left while we were speaking and we heard clearly how she told her college āI forgot to put itā
Her college came to the conversation and they said is how they manage the pub and we asked for the refund as we couldnāt eat (Sandraās meal was half eaten and it was cold after all this time) and they said they are not gonna give us the refund
I canāt understand when a customer have a complain their answer is nothing I can do and I how we doing in here, and they refuse to give us our refundā¦.ridiculous.
Then they tried to blame us saying is a miscommunication and they said may Juan did not communicate properly (quite racist) as clearly they tried to blame cause we are not English.
This attitude is not acceptable ever. Then Juan replied āmaybe she needs to listen to the peopleā.
When Juan said that, the manager asked him to leave straight way.
We said we are not going to leave as we didnāt t even finished the food and one beer (Juan one) was half in the glass so we were waiting for the refund.
Then the manager disappeared.
After 3 minutes what we guess, the landlord and his girlfriend came in intimidate attitude, Sandra explain what happens and Juan explain that we are not refusing to leave, but if they asked us to leave they should give us the refund as we could not finish food and drinks understanding this is a private place but open for public.
The landlord said please come back to the table and Iāll be back in some minutes.
Then the waitress brings us part of the refund (just the food) and he comes back again saying āthis is your refund, youāre not welcome in here anymoreā
We were regular customers (sometimes we had issues as long waiting for food 1h sometimes, food over cooked wrong food, missing food etcā¦.and we never complain before), we even being eating the day before (Sunday) spending good money for the whole evening in beers and food, and is how they are threatening their customers without accepting may they are wrong and they could make a mistake (when the manager told her college she forgot to put it in the till)

When ordering the guy serving us he had Brown hair and Glasses and his service was absolutely shocking. He made us feel so unwelcome, he tapped the till so hard when making our order you just felt like you had ruined his day. When I ordered he didnt hear so looked me dead in the face with a blank expression and just said 'what' .. 'sorry say that again I didn't hear you' wouldn't have gone a miss! Why is it so hard to have some manners?
After ordering we sat down and awaited our starter.. which was lovely by the way! BBQ chicken wings we had and they were lush! However; the same guy that took our order served our starter.. put it on the table and walked away.. a simple 'enjoy' would have been nice. After finishing our starters we sat there for a good half an hour and thought ... hmm have they forgotten about us? As a couple who had come in after us had received their mains already. Waited another ten minutes then my fiance took our plate to the Bar and asked whether our mains would be on there way.. the bland guy with no personality response was.. 'I'll get them now' Didnt know we had to take our own plates upto the Bar in order to get our main? Again mains delivered but this time a lovely lady presented them to us and wished us a nice meal - which was a pleasant surprise.
The breakfast menu was at the table so we took a look and decided that today; we would try it out despite the fact we had just experienced horrible service. Today when we ordered we wanted to ask for no egg on one of the breakfast and well done egg on the other breakfast.. when the lady with blonde hair went to make our drinks she said to another member of staff so I could blatantly hear 'its gonna be one of them days' .... yet again made to feel like an inconvenience, you are there to do a job and provide a service and it's not acceptable to make customers feel like they aren't welcome.    Read moreThis was an awful experience. We booked ahead but were basically ignored and left to it. The one member of staff was wholly concerned with men drinking at the bar. These men could be heard all over the first part of the restaurant. The other member of staff was hanging around in the smoking shelter, which overlooked our table through a window, meaning all the smokers just stared at us whilst we were eating from a high vantage point. There was no mince to make the chile con carne, the sizzler I had to order instead was burnt all over the base of the onions and peppers. The pieces of chicken were rock hard in the poppadom. My husband's meal was dreadful and cold, especially the chips so I could not console myself with sharing. There should have been a £5 voucher available to discount the meal from joining the email newsletter, but this did not happen and nothing arrived in my email or in my spam folder. The waitress just said it happens a lot and made no apology for this. We could have used a £5 voucher instead at the time of ordering, so long as spending £20 or more. This was well hidden from us until too late. There were other options missing from the dessert menu. The atmosphere was zero and we will not return, nor will we recommend this venue.
