Trattoria Da Carlo — Restaurant in Mole Valley

My son's Special Needs School chose this restaurant as a venue to host their school leavers celebration evening on 28th June 2017. A non-refundable charge of £20 per head was paid to the restaurant in advance, approximately 1 month before the scheduled date. Sadly on that morning of the event, my Mother in Law passed away. Given the short notice, I contacted the restaurant to notify them of our cancellation and asked if they would consider refunding the advance payment, in view iof the exceptional circumstances. The Proprietor 'Carlo', offered a meal there on another evening insteas. When I explained that we lived some distance away from the restaurant and that we were unlikely to visit there for a meal, he then very reluctantly agreed to speak to the Deputy Head at the school and arrange a refund.

The following week I contacted the school, only to discover that no refund was forwarded on to them. When I contacted 'Carlo' at the restaurant, he, somewhat offensively, implied that we had made up some elaborate excuse and refused to refund the money. A VERY RUDE AND IGNORANT MAN! Given the unfortunate situation most decent people would have obliged, clearly 'Carlo' does not fit into this category!! Needless to say we would not recommend...

If you’re looking for a quiet covid-safe environment with excellent fine dining this is definitely the place to pick. Don’t worry or hesitate to book. We need to keep our local shops and restaurants - especially the special ones like this.

In all my time living in Fetcham I wasn’t aware they also have a private room upstairs for up to 24 people too.

We ate like kings this evening. One had steak, another scallops, another monkfish - all done to an extremely high standard including perfectly cooked vegetables and delicious roast potatoes with a hint of fresh rosemary.

These reviews below cannot be genuine. This restaurant caters mainly to a lot of the senior citizens in the area. The decor is dated and unimaginative, bordering on unpleasant. The food is just about average, but so expensive! This restaurant is NOT in Leatherhead, it's in Fetcham. If you drive a couple of miles into Leatherhead, you will have a "lot" of choice even in terms of Italian restaurants, and most will be better than this one.
