We came to The White Hart on a Saturday evening a few weeks ago, whilst staying at the Bartley Lodge and I'm sad to say that we were just left really disappointed. Firstly, a special mention to the staff and chef, who were lovely and ensured that everything came out in a timely fashion, so absolutely no complaints there. I'd like to also mention that we did not complain, so it is possible / likely that they would have resolved some of the below issues. The pub itself is beautiful, set in lovely grounds, with plenty of outside tables, and with plenty of character inside. We had some starters, which were OK, albeit expensive for what they are (£8, plus service charge for 5 chicken wings is pretty extortionate). My partner ordered the slow roasted lamb (£23), which was really nice and plentiful, but her veggies were almost raw, whilst I had the fillet steak sandwich. This was labelled as a light bite, so I was prepared for something smaller than usual but at £17, it wasn't cheap. I'm well aware that you do not expect much fillet steak for this sort of money (you wouldn't usually see it on the menu at this price in any capacity), however, I had 4 or 5 small cut up cubes of it, which made a mockery of the whole thing. My advice would be to switch to a cheaper cut of meat and make it a sizeable quantity or have two sizes available as I'd have happily paid an extra £5 or so for a more fulfilling meal.

We recently had dinner at The White Hart and were genuinely impressed by the entire experience from start to finish. The setting of the restaurant is absolutely beautiful — full of charm and character, with a cosy yet elegant atmosphere that makes it perfect for both casual meals and special occasions. It’s clear that a lot of care has gone into creating a warm, welcoming environment. The staff were exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with genuine friendliness and made to feel incredibly welcome. Throughout the evening, the service remained attentive without ever feeling intrusive. The team was knowledgeable about the menu and happy to answer questions or make recommendations, which added a lovely personal touch. The food was truly outstanding. Every course was presented beautifully and full of rich, balanced flavours. We would especially recommend the duck leg and the salmon linguine — both dishes were perfectly cooked, generously portioned, and absolutely delicious. You could really taste the quality of the ingredients and the skill in the kitchen. Overall, we had such a fantastic dining experience at The White Hart. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for great food, excellent service, and a beautiful place to enjoy a meal.

Another great visit to The White Hart. The lady that served us, Debs, was new and asked us to be nice but we instantly warmed to her and in honesty wouldn’t have known she was new had she not mentioned it. Friendly, chatty and she looked after us throughout, although in honesty all the staff we have ever dealt with here are great. Crispy beef salad for two please Wickes was lovely. Trying to be good I did forego the pudding, which I don’t normally do, but 10 days upcoming in BBQ centre of the USA made me hold fast!!! Got two more voucher for money off our next visit so no doubt we will be back soon. Well done Debs, a great addition to the team and well done to the rest of the team too. The only thing negative thing I would say is that they put a 12.5% service charge on the bill (which is fine) but then the card machine asks if you want to add a tip with I think the minimum being 10%. I’m all for tipping and will always recognise good service but if you miss there’s a service charge on the bill and add another 10% on that starts using excessive. I’d rather leave a cash tip for the staff or have it as a service charge on the bill but not both. Other than that service as usual!! Well done.

My recent visit to The White Hart pub was an  enjoyable experience, with the food proving to be a real standout. I opted for their beer-battered fish and chips, and it was a classic done exceptionally well. The fish was cooked just right, lovely and flaky inside with a beautifully crisp batter. No dryness at all, which was a real plus. The chips were also excellent, proper thick-cut ones with a nice crispy edge. Even the mushy peas were surprisingly tasty. My friend chose the 6oz fillet steak, requesting it medium, and he was very impressed. He commented that it was cooked exactly as he'd asked and the quality was such that it could easily rival steaks he's had at places like Miller and Carter, and he's experienced less impressive steaks at dedicated steakhouses. He did think offering a beef dripping sauce as an alternative to the gravy and peppercorn would be a great addition. The onion rings that came with his steak were also spot on, with a lovely crispy batter and the onion yielding easily when you bit into it. The pub itself has a nice, relaxed atmosphere, with a kind of traditional country feel that really suits the area. The garden is a good size with plenty of tables. The staff were also great, we were seated and served quickly, and they checked in to make sure we were happy with our food. I didn't get a chance to try the local ales on tap, but they had a decent selection, which is definitely something I'd like to do on another visit. All in all, I had a really good experience at The White Hart and would happily recommend it for lunch or dinner. It's a proper,...

They charge more for the outside “bbq’ burger when the exact same thing on the inside menu was cheaper !

We made a trip down for the beer festival, We won’t be making the visit again, poorly managed, stop the so called BBQ food early (it’s not an actual BBQ same grills as they use in the kitchen)

The ques for drinks were terrible, the music was worse I would class this as more of a garden party than a beer festival to be honest. You ask the staff a question and they didn’t know the answer (what time the food inside was stopping) the response I got was in a very sarcastic manner “I have no idea” this member of staff is on the website photo so not likely to be temp just for festival.

Thank god it wasn’t chargeable to go. We unfortunately wouldn’t attend again.

It was a shame as we made a special trip down for this as recommended by friends - we actually went and ate at another pub down the road.

Maybe some staff training. Better organisation and bands who can reasonable sing a mixture of music.

The end on Saturday night was crap from bad band to rave music then suddenly the music stopped and that was it no announcement or Anything quite a strange finish compared to other events we have been too.

Would have given 3 stars but due to the fact of charging different prices for the same products from a business owners point a view (don’t get caught should not have had the other...
