We went for my husbands birthday with our family and 14 month old granddaughter We ordered starters and a main my daughter asked for food to be warmed fir the little one and was told they couldn’t do to health and safety which was understandable and were offered a portion of mashed potatoes When we had finished our mains my daughter noticed the meals we had had carrots and parsnips we pointed this out to the waitress who apologised and offered us a free desert When we received the bill we had been charged for the desserts the bill was amended we told the waitress and she said we were to receive both deserts for free The bill was amended again and when we received it we had been charged 7 50 for a child’s meal which we hadn’t had the bill was amended and we received another bill this time we had been charged for a 20 pound bottle of wine which we hadn’t had The waitress apologised for the errors with our bill saying they had been busy and had new staff The food was fab BUT PLEASE CHECK THAT YOU GET THE FOOD ON YOUR PLATE THAT YOU HAVE PAID FOR AND THAT YOU ARENT BEING CHARGED FOR WINE YOU DIDNT HAVE THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE SPOILT A PLEASANT AFTERNOON AND TO BE OFFERED 2 DESSERTS AS COMPENSATION IS POOR LAUNAYS PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU PUT EXPERIENCED STAFF ON TO...

Six of us went out for our family Christmas eve meal to Launays in Edwinstowe. As two out of the six of us were vegan, we phoned a week prior to booking to inquire about the vegan options. They were accommodating to this and agreed to offer alternatives on the set Christmas menu we wanted to book onto. The vegan starter was not what had been discussed over the phone. Which was a smoked tofu beetroot salad. What had arrived was a beetroot dish with nothing else. When we asked about the dish supposidly being smoked tofu beetroot salad, they apologised and brought the tofu out. Even with the tofu it was tasteless and disspointing. The beetroot salad alone was dull as just composed of beetroot and no other salad garnish.

When the mains arrived majority of us were disappointed again. The turkey on the Christmas Dinner choice was dry and tough and all the dishes lacked vegtables. We were given one small dish of disspointing vegtables and roast potatoes between the six of us. There wasn't enough for a carrot or parsnip each. The roast potatoes were undercooked and soft. Lacking crisp or taste.

We would not return to the restaurant and although the staff were pleasant throughout the food was extremely...

Our wedding lunch was at Launay's in August and we had the best time. Alison and her team really looked after us from sorting out the original booking, table layouts, what we wanted on them, flowers etc. to delivering fab food, wine and champagne to our guests. We had the normal a la carte menu plus the lunch menu for our guests to choose from but pre ordered two weeks before. At my wife's request we had lobster as an option which was well received. We started with canapes and champagne on the terrace followed by our meal in the conservatory area which we had to ourselves. The food was beautiful as is always the case across every course. The cheese board was massive and lots went for the sweet shop dessert which is a spectacle when it arrives. We offered an open wine list for guests to choose from which, with the food choices, meant that everyone got the food and drink of their choice and not just a wedding style option of 'chicken or beef' which made their time with us more special. The whole day was very relaxed and Alison and her team really looked after everyone for the afternoon. I would certainly recommend Launay's as a wedding venue if you want great...

We visited severally under the old management which was always excellent. We were so pleased when Launay’s reopened. We are vegetarian, and for our Sunday mains had the only veggie option which was two slices of broccoli tart (we think), accompanied with asparagus shoots, beans and potatoes. The main course size was more like a starter and we were left feeling hungry. For our child we chose macaroni cheese from the kid’s menu with garlic bread. Bizarrely this came unexpectedly served with strong horseradish sauce which our child wouldn’t touch. Why to put strong horseradish sauce in a kid’s dish is beyond us. We asked for them to remake it, which, to their credit, they did, but this time around it was more like a soup with too much liquid. It was served without the advertised garlic bread second time around. Our child ate half and left the rest. The only good thing about our visit was the beer, a Czech pilsner which was delicious. We decided not to chance the deserts and left hungry to finish eating elsewhere. Just to cap off our visit, we heard loud shouting coming from the kitchen as we returned to our car. We won’t be back. Such a disappointment.

These days I rarely comments on food and services but when I come across this one I need to. It was a cold Sunday afternoon and the street was quiet, both husband and I was tired and needed to have some food. We came across this restaurant and we just walk in. It's a beautiful warm and charming restaurant. The person that took our orders was smiling and happy. She allowed us to order one set lunch to share. When the food came with great presentation, clean, smooth and simply delicious!!! The mussel was so good with the taste of ocean and butter ! The Sunday Roast my husband clean the plate!! The dessert was smooth, silky and delicious! Good job Chefs!! If I come to this area again. I'll 100% dine here!!

We’ve been her 5 or 6 times now, sometimes just the two of us and other times with the whole famalam. We think the early evening menu is the best, 3 courses for £21 is a bargain in my book. The kids love the fact they can have it all. The menu changes regularly and has a lot of seasonal ingredients and veg taken off the owners allotment. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and are capable of a bit of chat which helps. I’d like it if they expanded their soft drinks menu as it is limited, not everyone driving wants coke or lemonade. That said, we’ll be back again soon.
