Shambles !

Booked In last weekend for a birthday party as a group of 25. Upon arrival to decorate the space, we were advised that the chef had not turned up for work and so food wouldn’t be served for the rest of the weekend or until they found an alternative solution.

Problem number one - the manager I believe to be called James ? Didn’t take any contact information upon booking which meant we only found out about the kitchen situation an hour before guests were due to arrive. This gave us no other option to find somewhere else, but we were welcome to order a takeaway or bring our own food. Fair enough it was a solution but not one that should have to be offered. I can’t understand why only one person is trained in the kitchen ? For the instances of sickness, holiday etc it doesn’t make any business sense. madness

Problem number two - the state of the place. As a member of our party would require the disabled loo we asked for the key, to which we found it unusable, dirty and broken with the flush handle on the floor. All other toilets were also filthy and clearly hadn’t been cleaned from the night before.

I would avoid for any special occasion as clearly management are missing the mark on hospitality and care.

The young lad behind the bar was the only saving grace of our visit, he was apologetic, really attentive and helpful. He’s a credit to this place and it’s a damn shame he was left in this position and also left by himself, I’m sure being in an open pub as the only staff member shouldn’t be allowed especially when needing to go down into the cellar or to accommodate legal...

Had a lovely time with the other half here last Thursday - date night! First time being here. Had a google around where to go and from pics and reviews, we decided to come here. Glad we did! The pub is by far the best quality in regards to the outlay and decoration of the interior. The lads behind the bar are down to earth, friendly and professional. Good quality food, best vegan food we've had for a while, delicious 😋. Service was on point, didn't have to wait long for food and drinks - quieter on Thursdays. Had a couple games of pool courtesy of the lads, as we'd forgotten to bring some change with us, thought that was really kind of them to do that. Will definitely be coming here again for date night. We nipped in for some food today, there were six of us and when we ordered the food the young lady on the bar said she was cooking everything herself. We weren't expecting amazing quality but no longer than 30 minutes later, she arrived with the food and honestly, it was absolutely brilliant. I had the Buffalo Taco Rolls and they were like nothing I've had before, and to think she had done all of it on her own is commendable.
