Update: Meal was Perfect & Outstanding! I had the braised steak, chips & veg. Generous portion of steak and homemade chips and yummy gravy, everything was delicious, including the veg! I had extra gravy at at no extra charge and that was delicious too. The gravy here is fabulous and I would say the best tasting in the local area! A speculative visit on a Sunday lunchtime at this popular pub, resulted in Steve, sorry, that should be Phil, finding three of us a late table for some meals. We found the atmosphere conducive for a quiet repast and a few drinks. Staff were very attentive and saw us to our non-reserved table in the lounge. Well priced meals were served in reasonable time and sufficient for all our appetites, or should I say more than enough.

Well worth a visit for both meals and their wide selection of beers and lagers but probably best to book first if planing...

Beers were good, strong and refreshingly cold. The food though wasn’t good came here on the principle of other reviews stating home made when in fact it was pre cut chips and a Morrisons bakers section style steak pie with frozen garden peas.
