Branzino — Restaurant in Newcastle upon Tyne

So today was our sons 21st birthday and my wife had pre booked a table for seven of us at this restaurant. Upon arrival the restaurant was very busy and there was some sort of rowing event happening on the river too which may have contributed, However our table was not ready for the allotted time and we were asked to wait and have a drink at the bar. There was little room to do this i opted to leave and wait outside until the table was ready so did three other of our group. Fifteen minutes later it was ready. Ordering our food was a simple enough and the staff were friendly enough too so no real issue there thank you. Our food came promptly - starters first and mostly enjoyable. I had the Gamberoni - Tiger prawns in garlic butter and chilli sauce however the sauce was a bit lack lustre - where was the chilli?. My wife asked me what it was like and i had to say not sure didn't really rate it it was just - a sauce. Others had potato skins - which are always ok and my 14 year old enjoyed his Calamari.The other issue was the garlic bread we ordered for our thirteen year old. It was burnt - this overpowered the entire flavour of the garlic bread he couldn't eat it only managing bits of two slices - this spoiled his experience as he was looking forward to it. A word to a member of the staff and they said it would be removed from the bill, We had finished our starters so there was no offer of a replacement for him. The mains, As far as aware everyone seemed to enjoy their pasta dishes and pizza they had ordered. Myself and my 14 year old had Chargrilled surf and turf and asked for it medium rare - it was not!!! - more medium /well done. making it a little chewy. The sauce that came with it was the same sauce that was on my starter yet was supposed to be different - not including the chilli ingredient, yet my first sauce didn't either yet but was supposed to have. We took a vote and did not order dessert. My wife also commented that she could smell burnt yorkshires and indeed there was a couple next to us and their yorkshires on their sunday lunch were burnt too. We paid our bill and left a tip as the service was good however the food today could've been a lot better and missed the mark....

We booked a meal for 16 for a suprise joint 70th and 72nd birthday. When booked was told I could arrive early to decorate the table with balloons and confetti. I arrived with my 2 children and aunty and uncle who are both disabled. The girl that greaterd us was lovely I explained to her about decorating the table she went and got a small dark haired girl from the back that asked what the problem was. I replied there wasn't a problem I just wanted to decorate for the party. After screwing her face up she said its 6.35. I explained I'd had a conversation with someone who had said to come early. She told me in a very abrupt Manor that it was to early the tables wernt ready it was Saturday night. I asked if it was OK to get a drink and just wait ? She told us we would have to go wait outside incase they needed the tables!. Baring in mind there were 5 free tables set up the 2 we were next to wernt set up. I asked if my aunt and uncle could wait I side she glared at me and said yes but if they needed the tables they'd also have to go outside I went round the corner to the outside area which was soaken and not set up as it was raining. When I went back in I said its all soaken outside she again replied well there's people sat out there. By this point it was 6.50 , the girl argued the toss with me about sitting out side. I wasn't prepared when bring 16 people to drink with u to have to take 2 disabled people and 2 kids outside in the rain. And I shouldn't have to argue with a member of your staff. A gentleman arrived and and was listening to what was being said and at the point she offered to decorate the tables for me so I gave her everything. 2 minutes later he came and got us so we went and i went and got the stuff for the table but at that point before anything was even open the full party arrived! The service and attitude from the girl behind the bar was bang out of order. I am a Manager for a huge company and know just how important customer service is. Your food is nice and establishment is lovely but that member of staff leads alot to be desired!! I look forward to your response before taking this further. The...

My sister and I wanted to arrange a surprise family meal for my Mum for her retirement. We visited the restaurant to enquire whether it would be possibly to arrange a meal for 16 adults and 2 children, along with a small space to decorate with balloons banners etc which they said was no problem.

Upon arrival, the staff had set out a fantastic space for us all. We were able to set up 30mins in advance for my Mum coming too which was perfect!

Considering our group was a little chaotic due to 2 newborns and 2 small children, the staff were absolutely outstanding in dealing with us all. To avoid difficulties with the bill, we were all able to order our drinks separately to the food bill which was a massive help throughout.

Considering the restaurant was fully booked, everyone’s starters and mains came out within a more than reasonable timescale and the food itself was delicious! Everyone ordered a mix of things from the menu such as pizzas, chicken dishes, steaks and fish and everyone’s plates were polished off. I personally had a pizza which was one of the nicest pizzas I’ve had in a very long time.

I cannot begin to express how grateful I am for everyone’s efforts in delivering such a fantastic evening. Every member of staff was brilliant and compliments to the chefs for delivering such tasty food for everyone!
