Mimi's Ice Cream Factory — Restaurant in Newcastle upon Tyne

Today, I was lucky enough to make my first visit to Mimi's. I had been hearing about this amazing ice cream emporium for some time from my family and friends, so was delighted to finally visit today. The Emporium is located behind the Co-Op petrol station / shop near to the Gosforth Park Hotel. The dazzling array of ice cream's, sorbets and vegan ice cream was mind blowing. Ricotta and Fig Ice Cream, whoever dreamt that one up is a genius! Even better to have been offered a sample before having to make a final decision. My family members chose a sugar cone but went with the single choice of ice cream (2 scoops), whereas I went with two scoops of different flavours! Turkish Delight and Ricotta and Fig were my flavours of choice and I was not disappointed. Amazing! If that hadn't made the visit special enough, I was kindly then given a sample in a small tub of some Lemon Meringue Ice Cream, which had just been made. That genius had been at it again (I found out it was the Italian Chef in the kitchen but genius about sums it up). The sample was everything you want from an ice cream, fantastic flavour which also included tiny pieces of meringue, Sublime! I cannot wait for...

We really enjoy the ice cream here and returned today as a regular customer. The ice cream was delicious but a young man, around 16/17 was serving and clearly new to role. There was no problem with that, he was polite and friendly. Only around 5 ice creams were named and upon asking the flavours, the young man was unsure, so he asked the female, older lady in charge. She was sharp, irritable and condescending to him, telling him off in front of us for a drop of ice cream not being cleared up. She then rolled her eyes behind his back. It was bullying. Bullying of a child. I won't be returning on that basis. I wish I had said something there and then, I just couldn't believe what was happening and was with friends and didn't want to make them uncomfortable. It was an error.
