A lovely family-run restaurant we discovered while visiting South Wales from London. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the owner was very thoughtful in arranging a spacious table for us as we had a baby. We ordered two starters, two mains, and a homemade tiramisu, which was absolutely delicious—the pasta completely changed my impression of pasta! The owner even treated us to a side dish and kindly offered wine, though we couldn’t accept as we had to drive. Heartfelt food and genuine hospitality—we’ll definitely return when we visit Newport again!

Went for a meal with my wife, as we had a gift voucher, never been there before, but what a surprise, the setting created an Italian atmosphere and the food was superb, the taste, the freshness and nice and light! We had a couple of bottles of wine, which complimented the food. Desert was really nice, I had the Rhubarb cheesecake, very light! We had a chat with the owner/Chef after and it was obvious the passion he has for cooking and was very welcoming. Can't wait to go again!

Had a wonderful meal at Marenghis with my Dad. Had 3 courses, all super and really fab house wine too. The restaurant has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere that you don't find in chain Italians. Good food, good service and great prices!

SEVERAL WEEKS AGO PART 1 Only dropped by for a coffee and a tea and the bill was just £3 odd, if you like your coffee you'll love it here. I had a big tea pot and had 3 cuppas from it. Very clean and well presented surroundings. The food menu looked scrummy so we're going back there next week for lunch. Lots of regulars as they were talking to each other which is always a good sign, one chap we were talking to said the food here is excellent. We went there about 10.15am and it was already a third full. Hope this helps, Quentin. Oh, no dogs except guide dogs..

UPDATE 5/9/2018 We went back for lunch last week, the wait is about 10 mins for 3 peoples mains, so great start. The portions are large our 11 yr old had carbonara and she couldn't finish it all, so I helped out. It was scrummy laced with a bit of black pepper which made it so lovely to eat. My wife had Lasagne, it was 4 layers, oven baked and would have fed the both of us, I had a taste and that's my choice for next visit. They serve wines and beers to accompany your meal. Again, we saw people chatting to each other so they clearly have regulars. I made a Facebook friend with someone I found out I worked with years ago! The bill was excellent value, we can afford to eat there on a more regular basis. Love it here. Hope this helps you decide, oh they close at 5pm. Kind...

This restaurant is truly a delight! The most authentic Italian restaurant outside of Italy!!! We visited in January for a family birthday. It has been recommended to us and as it is very close to the family home we decided to give it a go. We were a party of 10 and despite some initial reservations as we had to pre-order and were told to bring cash only, we needn’t have worried we had a really lovely evening and cannot recommend the atmosphere & food enough! Chris and Mario are so accommodating and despite being busy took the time to greet us as if we were old friends. The other diners were almost all regulars, which speaks for itself! The food is EXCELLENT. We each had 3 courses and also ordered a selection of wine, beer, soft drinks spirits and coffee and the bill was under £30 a head and worth every penny! We even had a complimentary Limoncello(how very Italian) Chris made the process of pre-ordering very easy and even accommodated a drop out of our 11th member at the last minute at no charge. The atmosphere is homely and there are fresh and store cupboard products to purchase lined up nearly all over the restaurant. I am sure almost all diners must make a purchase or 2 before they leave! I will be taking a shopping bag next time! The ambience is truly continental. Thank you Chris and Mario, you have an...

Absolutely love this hidden gem, it may look like just a cafe however step inside and indulge on authentic Italian food with that Mitchelin star quality.

My family are Napolitan & the Owner & So ln didn't disappoint with their warm welcome, home cooked food and distinctive "Nonna" food smells.

The food is tasty, well presented, reasonably priced and very authentic.

Everytime my family are visiting we aim to stop here.

Dad even gets to enjoy his Naples roots favourite desert as the Owner imports it directly from Naples. BABA RUM a must try when dining here.

Cant wait for our next visit.

You can even take a little bit of Italy home with you with their range of take out dry pasta, gifts and Vino !

Well worth a visit in December to get a...
