The first time me and family have ever gone out for Christmas dinner instead of cooking. Unfortunately was a bit of a let down. We paid £100 per head arrived to a shot of something nothing for the drivers or children though, canapes arrived on a rustic presentation board with a selection of three in a large amount. There was a prosciutto and goats cheese one which was the only one people ate as the pesto and salmon one were not the best. For starters I had sweet potato and coconut soup which was really tasty, unfortunately I then had to wait two hours for my dinner as the kitchen could not cope or not set up for the months ahead pre ordered food which were all the same turkey dinners apart from one for our table. When the food did arrive we all started eating before the veg arrived as really hungry at this point. The food was piping hot and tasty but alot of people on my table had lost interest by this point and alot was left, I like my food so mine and one other the only empty plates out of ten. At this point the second sitting of people had arrived for our table and many others, the front of house staff remained professional and friendly under alot of pressure from people not happy. Dessert was ok unfortunately everyone just wanted to leave at this point and didn't even bother with the coffee and mince pies included. The waiting staff were all lovely and clearly stressed and apologetic, we had a round of drinks taken off our bill to apologise for the delay. We left four hours after arriving once we finished our desserts. I think we'll be...
Read moreCalled in The Friendly Fox for Sunday lunch today, and my experience was disappointing.
The food was nice, although some veg overcooked. The presentation was poor, plate too small and heaped so every item was on top of each other and awkward to eat. The beef was delicious. The waitress was accomodating and pleasent.
The environment was tired and uninviting. Poor cleanliness in the bathroom and areas.
There were a loud, rude family with unruly children and two dogs running around and over the furniture with no regard to my enjoyment or space. It was difficult to eat, chat or enjoy my drink as it was awful hearing their bad language, loud conversation and overall manner. After a short while other children and a dog entered.. it seemed as if they knew the others, between their dogs and selfish, behaviour I could hardly swallow my food and was eager to leave. I was surprised that the staff allowed such behaviour, with no regard for other customers, I appreciate that it's sensitive to address , but it appeared as if this was acceptable by their acceptance.
A shame as I feel this potentially could be a great venue etc. I have to add I have nothing against children or dogs, I have grandchildren and a dog.
I will...
Read moreQuite possibly the worst pub i have ever been to, outside looks absolutely lovely inside is incredibly dated. Large portion of ceiling missing in the mens room chasing a leak it seems. In the dinning area cobwebs hang from the ceiling.multiple items were no longer on the menu and waitress seemingly hadn't been informed so a wonderful display of a lack of any sort of communication there. The food took almost an hour to arrive and when it did the gammon was somehow undercooked and tough.
It appears most of the work in the bar/dining area is being done by one waitress running around attending to seemingly everyones needs while the manager stands around twiddling her thumbs with not a thought in her head talking extensively to one customer not aware of anything else that may be going on or attempting to assist her staff in the slightest.
Perhaps im wrong but from where i was sitting the manager was a useless waste of oxygen.
In short i would advise anyone thinking of Going here to strongly reconsider unless massive changes are made such as getting none useless staff and mainly management
0/10 would not recommend, stay home, stay away go somewhere...
