Edit: Today, we ordered the beef madras. It was on the menu as a special. However, when we took a mouthful, the beef tasted mushy and incredibly unpleasant, the texture resembling the cheap meatballs you can buy in tins. Lost a star for food for this, just hope on our next visit the food improves.
Original: We've been to this wetherspoon a few times, and it's a nice one to go to. The food here is on par with the other wetherspoons we have been to, their food is delicious. We usually order the half roast chicken, and it's been lovely every time we have had it.
The pub can get quite crowded at times, and it's hard to manoeuvre when it gets busy, especially up by the bar with the tables located in the middle of the room. Sometimes tables can be hard to find because of how busy it gets, but each time we have been, we have been able to find a table after a little time of looking.
The service also gets quite busy and sometimes will spend a bit of time waiting at the bar or waiting for the food/drinks from table service due to this, but staff are very courteous, offering apologises for the wait, etc.
We do really like this place and come here enough in between. Highly...
Read moreSlow service, food is now vastly overpriced, despite the portions being radically slashed, sadly, none of us enjoyed our meals, parts of which were cold and soggy! It's safe to say, we won't be joining you again in a hurry Wetherspoons. We were all extremely disappointed, but more disgusted by what followed throughout that Wednesday evening.
We were increasingly aware of rowdy slanging matches between several tables of intoxicated and foul-mouthed patrons, who later began arguing more aggressively and two women (after screaming at eachother in expletives) faced off, where one, punched the other to the pavement outside the front steps!
It was a complete disgrace, my poor Mother and our friend's were horrified by the language and violence on top of the dreadful bland food. All in all, very sad. Surely, the inebriated individuals should have not been able to get so intoxicated, or their aggressive behaviour spiral so out of control?
In light of global events, is this really how Management allow it's patron's to emerge out of lockdown, behaving like beast's, spoiling other people's attempts to finally get together for the first time in...
Read moreReasonably priced drinks and cheery staff are the perfect balance to the never ending, thousand mile stares of the dead, empty eyes of the customers, many sat alone- nursing one of the fine selections of ale on offer at the bar.
Got myself dangerously refreshed on a very well priced rum offering. I've been generally avoiding branches of spoons due to the owners Brexit standpoint, but made an exception due to it being cold out, much like the obviously homeless man hiding in the corner out of sight of the bar.
It was a bit like going to a wake for someone you never knew - will probably visit again the future, it's a strange sort of atmosphere you don't find anywhere else - will insist all my friends visit it so they too can sample the offerings there.
5/5 delightfully...
