Called in for coffee and really impressed by the huge selection of cakes, traybakes and savouries. Would recommend the sausage roll with Ballymaloe relish (everywhere these days) and served with a side salad. Also tried the raspberry and coconut cake (GF) which was lovely too. This and two coffees was £16 which we thought was quite expensive but isn't everywhere? Great atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff, and good food, just a little small but that's part of the charm. It was our first visit and will be back when we're next in the area. One star off for the outdoor toilet (if you can find it).

Beautiful little cafe and lovely food which was very reasonably priced. We just wanted some hot drinks and buns but you could get some lunch options too. Buns were a great size and far better than regular traybakes! I tried a beautiful vegan peach, raspberry and blueberry cake and it was devine! The kids had a massive bun between them and loved it! Lovely staff too. Would definitely recommend. Lovely view of the castle and the heaters outside were a great touch!

Gorgeous little cafe with a lovely array of foods. Great choice and the food was delicious. The staff were very friendly. Deducted a star as they burnt something and smoked the cafe out and didn’t open the door to let the smoke out. Easy mistake any can make but I do recommend opening the door if it happens again. Other than this it was a lovely experience.

I don't give out 5 star ratings because to me that means a place is perfect with no room for improvement. There's nowhere else to go so you may as well shut up shop and go begin again somewhere else. However, there is another train of thought that says it's one thing to achieve perfection, it's quite another to maintain it. The last couple of times I have been in, the grub is simply superb. There's not much choice but what's there is, as the influencers would say, is super tasty. Places claim to have home cooked food and dont. Picnic doesn't and does. It really does feel like it's been made just now especially for you, like your grannies. The lack of a consistent menu is what is preventing me giving the full 5; it's hard to compare unlike with unlike. Don't for one second stop you from dropping in, it's cramped but full of charm. I'll certainly be back to see if they...

I used to come here a fair bit when cycling and was always impressed by the selection of food/treats, friendly staff, the decor, the bustle and the coffee. I thought I would bring a friend on a Sunday run from Lisburn as I knew it had recently changed hands....When I walked in I thought the place had been robbed it was so sparce in all respects by comparison to the Picnic of old. Food selection was poor, with no menu to be seen, and the milk in my latte was burnt. Leaks on the roof outside area too. Sorry, but in this day and age with plenty of nice places to go it will take a lot more effort and investment than this to retain a successful business. Would have been better to delay opening a few more weeks and hit the ground running, as first impressions are everything and I for one...

Recently changed hands but went today and was really disappointed in the service, no menus but we were told they had all the normal fillings- had asked for sundried tomatoes, bacon, salmon, and was told aw no we don’t have that! Apparently you have to be able to read minds to order here. Picked a ham and cheese croissant which came cold and zero melt on the cheese! Not impressed at all. The attitude of the girl behind the till was not good. The gent making coffees was better and the coffee is good. But having been open a number of weeks now, I would expect a better level of service- it doesn’t take much to print a...
