Food quality was good, service was very slow. We got booked in and were told we would need to wait to be seated so were asked to purchase a drink in the mean time. We purchased drinks in great time because no sooner we had drinks we were escorted back to the room we were taken out of to purchase drinks even though you can buy drinks in both rooms... so we were seated and our waiter said he'd be back shortly to take our order, bare in mind it's Sunday lunch but credit where due you do have a small choice of medium or large, or go all put and have a 3 course meal. My partner decided on a 3 course but could only order 2 courses and would be told after the main she could have desert if she wished. I decided to go for the 2 course that wasn't an option given but was given becIee I could of chose 3 courses but didn't.... yes very confusing.... loaded potato skins where nice my partner said the battered prawns were like rocks, we didn't wish to make s scene so we plodded on. Main course the Sunday lunch was nice. Meat was cooked fantastically but the rest left little to be desired. Yorkshire pudding was far to over cooked and become a crisp veg hadn't been cooked enough, or maybe this is the new al dente! We got that bored after finishing our Sunday lunch and waiting for out waiter to come back we ended up having several drinks to kill time. We left 70 something pounds lighter for a mediocre meal we could of gotten at most places. On that note I regret to say I won't be back because food was...
Read moreSunday lunch 16th Oct 22. The order was wrong, late and when rectified, the veg wasn't cooked. The waiter was ready with a preemptive apology and an offer of a refund. Five minutes later we were asked "is everything okay?", in a manner which suggested nothing went wrong. This put me in the awkward position of saying "erm... Why not?!" The refund was £2.75.
Update: Thanks for your speedy response. I don't often write reviews, good or bad, so I was very careful on how this was worded. You said I missed details, I apologize for that, and here they are...
We were offered drinks, however we'd just ordered some so couldn't fully take advantage.
When the mistake was noted, we were told the food was "being plated", not "being cooked", so your rebuttal was inaccurate. We did not expect to wait another forty minutes on what was already a long delay.
You did deduct £2.75 from two meals. However, we spent nearly sixty pounds on a ruined Sunday lunch.
I mentioned the apology in the original review, but after well over an hour waiting, I was in no mood to talk about vegatables. I believe other customers would take the same attitude, at that point.
You did kindly open the door for my disabled...
Love the sunday lamb shank here..and thankyou for finding me a teapot!!👍 went again this evening on bank holiday Monday. Very friendly staff..lovely mac n cheese n fish n chips, but sticky table n dirty condiments let it down tonight.
Been a while since my last visit. Took my dad for Sunday lunch. Although we had booked it was still quite a wait for our roast chicken dinners. They were ok but not keen on their stuffing and no roast potatoes on our plates ( although they did apologise and adjusted our bill accordingly). Dad enjoyed his BlackBerry and apple crumble.. I went without a cup of tea as now no teapots given!🤷🏼♀️. I like to make my own tea..so was disappointing that only cups of pre made tea available. I was driving so couldn't have an alcoholic drink and i dont drink coffee or fizzy stuff..so not having a cuppa marred it for me..also menu now changed and no lamb shank.. Plenty of parking space though and cheerful...
