We were booking for a large party for a team Christmas meal and as such had chosen this venue as it appears to look like it has an enjoyable atmosphere and an appetising menu. Whilst we found the actual venue and the food to be quite enjoyable the customer services left a very sour taste in the mouth. When liaising with the booking person over the phone we found them to be both rude and unhelpful, we were told in no uncertain terms that our deposits which we paid would be non refundable, (Had it not been we certainly wouldn't have come along). we took this to mean that we had paid a deposit and if our food came to less than this then we would not be refunded the difference. It was not specified anywhere that it would differ to this. We were told we needed to submit a pre order by Thursday 7th December, however when we tried to do this we were unable to get through and so called back and then left a voicemail. this phone call was not returned and as such we tried to call on the Friday, again we had no response and no action on our voicemail. We repeated this on both Saturday and Sunday with no luck. We finally got through on the Morning of the booking, the lady on the other end was very rude about the fact we were submitting our pre order now rather than apologising for the issues that had happened with the phone system as one would expect there to be. We attended the venue, and due to both illness and unavailability our party was much reduced from the original booking (Although this would have been noted upon us submitting our order on Thursday as we tried to do). The food was out to us quickly and efficiently and the waiting service was ok, However upon trying to sort the bill we were told we needed to pay an additional amount, this despite the fact our original deposit had covered the meal in full. When we asked why they were looking to charge this then explained that they had to turn away another large table. The restaurant was by no means full and the table we were sat at was for 6 people and as such I struggled to see where they had reserved a table that hindered the ability to service this additional table and in all honesty felt like a reason to charge extra. Upon challenging the bill there was no understanding of our position until we proved we had rung and left a voicemail. All in all the customer service was absolutely appalling, Whilst i appreciate the customer isn't always correct, that is a view that is had in the kitchen or in the back office not in front of the customer. Read moreIt's been a very long time since I have been to the Centurion. And I was pleased to see that it didn't get badly affected by the pandemic. The manager was very welcoming and friendly, tidy and well presentable. He lead up to our table and was very kind to our children. He insisted we used the app as it was easier to take orders. We used the Menu to help pick what we wanted but used the app to finalise it. We did wait a decent while but it was very busy. While we were waiting I did notice that the table wasn't very stable and it was wobbling about every time we moved slightly. So for some constructive criticism, please fix the table, I did look around and saw that our table was similar to many other tables and if ours was wobbly I can only assume the others were too. When the food arrived it was very well presented. One of the staff, although he was incredibly friendly, did smell a little bit. The rump steak was cooked very nicely, some of it was burnt and not cooked the way I liked it but 70% of the steak was cooked the way I liked it. I didn't expect the pepper corn sauce as I didn't asked for any, and unbeknownst to me I poured it on thinking it was steak gravy...it wasn't and I am not a fan at all of pepper corn... I almost cried thinking that my meal had been completely ruined. A waiter came over to check on our meal and I did mention that I didn't ask for the sauce. They offered to bring the manager over to talk to me, but i decided it would be better to use a handful of napkins to wipe up as much sauce as I could. I also asked for mushrooms to be added to my meal. I didn't expect so many mushrooms and I was delighted by this. The misses said she wouldn't order the double buttermilk chicken burger again because it fell apart and it was rather dry, but did try the rump steak and said she'll be having one of them next time! Read moreCame here about 2wks ago with my family and I thought from the reviews it would be a decent place. The food was OK, nothing great, could of done less burnt on my ribs and more sauce it seems they must of ran short of it, daughter food was fine again nothing special but my other half food well, my husband is a gentle soul and was extremely polite to the manager I'm asumming he spoke to the manager there older lady blonde gray short hair, he told her the burger is black and rock hard (she served it and seen it that way) and when I say black it's hard as ROCK, so when my husband said to the lady in really sorry but I can't eat this, its burnt, instead of a reply to say I'm sorry can I get you something else, she only said, its chargrilled thats how it is... I had to take a deep breath as I'm a chef and his wife and that's was 1 very rude and extremely poor customer service and 2 chargrilled not cremated. Then on top of that as she turned to return the dish to the kitchen she rolled her eyes, I don't think she realised I was standing there in the back ground watching as this went down. I handed my husband a baby bottle and she made him wait and served another guy before turning to him to ask yes can i help you, again very poor service, he asked for his refund and hot water. She told him I bring it to you. Plus we used our meerkat discount, at first she said she can't do that, then said she drop the money over, but he still needed the got water for a baby bottle.. In the end we got the refund but I will be avoiding this place like the hell I came, due to its close to the house and the reviews looked good and meerkat discount, but never again. To top it off my little baby, dropped her toy on the floor, but the radiator is leaking so from the looks of it I douth the manager couldn't care less about the customer service she provides or the state...
