Friez & Burgz | Forest Hall — Restaurant in North Tyneside

First time after dismissing it for so long as just another Forest Hall takeaway. For the longest time I thought this was just a rebrand of the Fish & chip shop. I was wrong.

I was so very, very wrong.

It’s clear now why Friez & Burgz is always packed with people patiently waiting to get their order in. This is NOT just another low quality takeaway. This is a rival to places like Fat Hippo, but without the pretentious hipster deco.

The best part about F&B is that they do what they say they do (fries and burgers) and they do it well.

A clear menu of options of different burgers and chicken burgers and sauces to add. No random kebabs, no random curries, or pizzas or scampi.

The food tastes great and there’s room to add or takeaway to your burger as you want. The only slight negative are the trademark mark up of soft drinks most takeaways seem to do.

There’s no doubts the food is freshly prepared and not microwaved as you can see the team grilling and prepping behind the counter.

Outstanding burgers and fries!

Friez and Burgz in Forrest Hall is an absolute must-visit! From the moment you walk in, the aroma of their fresh, sizzling patties and crispy fries fills the air, promising a fantastic meal. The staff are incredibly friendly and efficient, making the whole experience a delight.

I ordered the classic cheeseburger and a side of their famous loaded fries, and I was blown away. The burger was perfectly cooked, juicy, and packed with flavour. The bun was soft and held up well, and the fresh toppings complemented the patty perfectly. The fries were a revelation—crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and the generous toppings made them a meal in themselves.

The quality of the ingredients is evident in every bite. It's clear that a lot of care goes into preparing each dish. This place is a true gem, offering gourmet quality food at a reasonable price.

Smash patties done right!

I had the Original with added pastrami and bacon. A good helping of tasty pastrami but that peppery flavour overpowered the beef patties a bit. As did the bacon, but again that was great quality and very tasty. The patties were smashed perfectly. They had a beautiful crisp edging. Next time I'll be opting for additional patties instead and probably extra cheese because the one slice included was barely noticeable as it melted deep into the patty. Overall a very enjoyable burger.

I also had some plain filletz. These were cooked nicely and the chicken was succulent. The coating certainly was 'plain', but I had some 'Sweet n Smokey' dip with them and that was AMAZING. I could have drunk the stuff! I realised I ordered the wrong burger as I meant to have the Classic but the one I ended up with had that sublime sauce in it so a good mistake in the end!

Great value food and quick service. Definitely somewhere I'll visit many times...
