Food was ok but when it came to paying we had a lot of trouble! We wanted to pay by card however we were told that there card reader doesn't work most of the time as the WIFI they have is terrible. We didn't have enough cash and we weren't from the area. We were told to go get cash from a cash machine 5-10 minutes away. I suggested that I could do a bank transfer to them if they could give me the businesses sort code & account number, after the staff member spoke to someone in charge she said it wouldnt be possible but they could write down our card details and charge us later and then ring us when it was done. We begrudgingly agreed. They took down every single thing off my card, my name, address and phone. We left feeling like their attitude was it was our fault for not having cash and that they didn't feel at all in the wrong. On the way home we spotted a cash point so chose to go back and pay as we were really uneasy leaving all those details with a stranger. After a bit of a palava we got the details back. The bar staff was polite enought but again it felt like it was our fault. They definitely should have told us before we ordered that we couldn't pay by card, there was no sign on the bar and the lady didn't mention this until after we had eaten and wanted to pay. Really bad way of doing business and to be honest I felt like we should have been offered it on the house when it was their failing instead of being treated...

Read moreWe had our wedding after-party at The Clousdon Hill, and it genuinely couldn’t have been more perfect. The atmosphere was warm, relaxed, and deeply personal — it felt like walking into a beautiful home filled with joy. The soft orange lighting, charming wooden décor, and the smiles on everyone's faces set the tone the moment we arrived.
The layout and styling elevated the entire evening — cozy yet grand in a way that’s hard to describe. It made the celebration feel both special and effortless.
The food was absolutely delicious, with a gorgeous spread and thoughtful touches like gluten-free plates prepared for myself and a friend. The chicken especially was tender and full of flavour. One of the most emotional highlights was being able to put on our own music for the first dance — a truly unforgettable moment.
The staff were just incredible. They weren’t just helpful — they felt like part of the celebration, offering such genuine kindness and hospitality that by the end of the night, we were left feeling full of gratitude.
Thank you to the whole team at Clousdon Hill — you helped create the best day...
