The menu in the restaurant didn't tally up with the app. I tried scanning the bar code and put in the table number but the healthier burger wasn't listed. I went to the bar and someone came to our table and used the search in the app and added it to my order, I asked what makes the burger less calories she said I'm not sure. I think she was new to the job and still learning. Then I tried the app again to order another meal for my friend and it wasn't on the menue but it was on the table menue so off to the bar again. I saw 3 servers helping the new girl out to show her what to do on the till while sorting out another customer.eventually me and my friend got seen to. My meal qualified for 30% off so I paid by card and added a drink. My friend paid her meal cause it was on the lunchtime menu only she couldn't get a pudding for £2.50 because you can only get that deal on the lunchtime menu Monday to Friday. She was very dissatisfied. We were told we need another table because someone was sat at our table. My meal came 2 burgers, little salad garnish no bun no chips that came to £11.49, I went to the bar said wheres the chips? All burgers come with chips. Woman went to kitchen brought out small bowel of chips and was told the healthy burger comes without the bun. Iv later learned all you get is the burgers and salad for £11.49 certainly not worth it. If you got plenty of salad I'd agree. As it was I got a free small bowel of chips. We both enjoyed our meal but the problems with the app and lack of communication has made me not want to come back to this...
Read moreAfter visiting the Shirehorse for many years since it was built, as I live locally, the wonderful carvery and food has now been replaced with substandard catering. The portions have shrank In general obviously for profit, the prawn cocktail was tiny with scraps for lettuce, for the carvery the vegetables are becoming less and hardly any options, the stuffing is smaller and rock hard, the Yorkshire puddings are half the size and seriously taste like crispy omelettes; bizarre. They used to be huge and the best thing in the carvery. You can actually see the egg white and york in the Yorkshire Puddings and you can taste the egg. Really strange way to cook them. The young staff are very professional and helpful especially the young girl with short blond hair behind the bar. The senior staff are simply surly. After being a regular at the Shirehorse myself and my family will not be returning. Very disappointed and such a shame. Have started going to the Gibraltar Rock in Tynemouth; lovely food including the carvery and very pleasant staff, just not my local. Will start trying the two Killingworth Village pubs as well, as we eat out a lot. Hope this review was helpful to you. I felt it was important to write this as we were just so disappointed in general with the whole experience; food and...
Read moreStaff get together last night. Our tables were awkwardly set up so we weren't all sitting together as a group. My hubby cut his finger on a nail sticking through his chair.Chair was changed but not removed from the floor. Our meals varied from the carvery to the main menu. Disappointed to report that not one of us had a positive comment to say about the food. Carvery ..... had dried out and was disgusting. Food ordered off the menu was overcooked and dry. The service was okay but our hearts went out to the girl serving us as she was left to apologise for the lack of things we asked for. Considering the money we spent to find out that they had ran out of something so simple as brown sauce and other condiments was beyond a joke. Good grief...... Morrisons is 2 mins from the pub. I would have nipped over myself if Id known.I've had issues with the restaurant before but after conversing with the group we agreed to give it another go. The managers of this establishment need to be brought to task about their lack of professionalism. Their couldn't care less attitude towards customers and staff is very apparent. We won't be returning to this establishment..... which is sad... because some of the staff are wonderful and are genuinely happy to go the extra mile. Killingworth arms...
