After today I won’t be visiting anymore Miller & Carter’s, it’s far too expensive and inconsistent. This was the first time we tried the lunchtime menu as I refused to be ripped off, I think it’s something like £27 for 3 courses, £20 for 2, £6.50 extra for fillet mignon which we both had. They were out of quite a few items such as cauliflower wings, chunky chips and Pepsi max, none of this bothered us however but that’s quite poor for a busy weekend. I forgot to take photos of the starters but I had the cheddar mushrooms and my husband had the sticky chipotle chicken which were both lovely. Then we both had the 5oz fillet mignons, mine was absolutely perfect with only one tiny fatty part which didn’t bother me. My husband however had a very fatty steak which was inedible unfortunately, he asked for a fresh one which they brought out (complete with all the trimmings such as fries and onion loaf etc) they apologised and were very friendly and polite about it. However his second fillet mignon was also rather fatty which isn’t very good for a restaurant known for its steaks. To have one bad steak isn’t good, to then have two is unforgivable. He managed to eat most of it anyway, I think he was just unlucky and got poor cuts but for a place known for its steaks, to have to rely on sheer luck to get a decent steak simply isn’t good enough! In the end we had 3 courses, the creme brûlée was lovely but I just couldn’t finish it, we were both absolutely stuffed! The bill should have come to £71 with 3 courses and 2 pints of madri but the waiter wiped £15 off the bill due to the poor steaks which was very kind as we didn’t ask. So we paid £56 in total. Overall we would not recommend here to eat, the food is sometimes good (if you get a decent steak but you shouldn’t have to rely on sheer luck at a steakhouse) to be honest there are far better places to eat in Newcastle and that are much cheaper too. The only saving grace is the service which is spot on, all the staff are friendly, helpful and polite. Overall I’d rate it 2/5, a very poor experience today which is a real shame since it was for my birthday. I’ve always suspected that Miller & Carter was a rip off and didn’t want to believe it, but sadly today’s visit confirms it. You can buy better steaks in Aldi than what they serve up here, no joke! The fact that they’ve replied to other poor reviews on here but not mine has made me deduct another star.

What a rough experience. Rachel the server is absolutely wasted on this place, she was kind, chatty and attentive. Staff losing out on tips because the chef can’t cook to save their life. Some silly person chucked a bunch of glitter on the ‘millionaire chips’ it was like eating sand, asked for another portion without said sand, then came along undercooked frozen chips with dry af bacon and a crumb of Parmesan, pathetic. The steak has shrunk, asked for medium, got nearly rare, simple request too much for the person cooking it clearly. Peppercorn sauce watery as hell. The stick chipotle chicken was a child portion, over cooked stringy and chicken was all grey in the middle. The only thing we enjoyed was the cold pint. What a waste of £50, whoever is in charge needs to give their head a wobble, hire people that can cook, give the staff a raise - they’re missing out on tips from unhappy customers (couple across from us were also unhappy) and stop cutting corners, us customers aren’t born yesterday, we know when portions are smaller, sauces are stretched out, and poor quality ingredients are used. What an actual disaster man

We went to Miller and Carter Gosforth for the first time last Saturday with our young Daughter to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. We were served by Lauren who could not have been nicer. It was quiet when we arrived but being Saturday quickly filled up, but Lauren ensured we were not left waiting in between courses and was very professional and attentive. The food and Drink was amazing, with Steaks perfectly prepared. Even the child portions were impressive with our daughter especially loving the King Prawns in her prawn cocktail. It was also a lovely surprise to receive a complimentary anniversary dessert. We have visited the Newcastle Miller and Carter many times but decided to try this one in Gosforth as we had our daughter with us. It was perfect as a family venue especially if you have children, and is our new place to go if we are celebrating in the future. Thank you Lauren and the Miller and Carter Gosforth team for making our night special.

Title: Exceptional Dining Experience at Miller and Carter, with a Special Mention for Waitress Danielle

Review:

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Miller and Carter, and I must say that it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The impeccable service, exquisite cuisine, and delightful ambiance made it an unforgettable evening. I must also give special recognition to our waitress, Danielle, whose warm and attentive demeanor added an extra touch of brilliance to the entire dining experience.

From the moment we entered the restaurant, we were greeted by a friendly hostess who escorted us to our table with a smile. The decor exuded an elegant yet inviting atmosphere, and the attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the restaurant's design.

Danielle, our waitress for the evening, was an absolute delight. Her knowledge of the menu and genuine passion for providing exceptional service were evident from the moment she approached our table. She patiently answered all our questions, offered insightful recommendations, and ensured that every aspect of our dining experience was catered to our preferences.

The menu at Miller and Carter was a true culinary delight. The wide array of premium cuts of beef, cooked to perfection, made choosing a main course a tantalizing challenge. From the tender and flavorsome ribeye to the mouthwatering sirloin, each dish was expertly prepared and bursting with succulent flavors. The presentation was also impeccable, with every plate looking like a work of art.

To complement our main courses, Danielle recommended a selection of fine wines that perfectly enhanced the flavors of our meal. Her knowledge of the wine list was impressive, and she effortlessly guided us through the options, ensuring we found the perfect pairing for our preferences.

The service throughout the evening was exceptional. Danielle's attention to detail, genuine warmth, and genuine interest in our satisfaction were evident at every moment. She regularly checked on us without being intrusive and anticipated our needs, making us feel truly valued as guests.

The overall ambiance of the restaurant was also noteworthy. The stylish yet comfortable seating, coupled with soft lighting and tasteful decor, created an inviting and relaxed atmosphere. The noise level was just right, allowing for conversation without being drowned out by background noise.

To conclude, my experience at Miller and Carter was truly exceptional, and it was largely due to the outstanding service provided by Danielle. Her professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail elevated the dining experience to new heights. I highly recommend Miller and Carter to anyone seeking a memorable culinary adventure, accompanied by top-notch service. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for an exceptional dining experience, Miller and Carter, along with the delightful presence of Danielle, will exceed your...

Now that I have calmly collected my thoughts regarding my recent experience.

Visited the Gosforth restaurant yesterday 16/2/2025 Booked table for 15:00 earlier in the day Arrived at the restaurant around 14:45 Told the system was playing up and my booking wasn’t successful and if we waited in the bar area they could see what they could do for us .

They did fit us in to which I was very grateful for at the time however now I wish I had actually been turned away .

When you are spending £117.85 for 2 people you would expect sheer class / luxury and most of all professionalism to make matters worse we paid with vouchers from our recent wedding , Unfortunately we never received any of the above .

Now I must say my wife had a different combo of food to myself and she did say she enjoyed most of it 👍🏻however she too felt it was not worth the money .

I had Smokey prawns to start which were very sparse 4 in total and served with all the heads ,they were overcooked with a £2 surcharge then I followed this with the 12oz ribeye with an extra £8 surcharge , I was so disappointed I never even bothered with the desert as I knew the mood I was in it would be a full house of disappointment as the waitress didn’t even know what they had left to serve customers for dessert.

This is supposed to be a quality steak restaurant but the waitress just plonked my medium rare steak down and my wife’s medium to well anywhere she seemed was appropriate not even bothering to ask who was having which steak the the fries came out and same service. Unfortunately for the waitress she came half way through our mains to ask if everything was okay , to which I responded no actually it’s overpriced , overrated and definitely overhyped , her response was I will feedback your views to my manager but she was actually more interested in letting other diners know that if they tipped in cash she kept the lot . I possibly made a few dubious comments however I believe them to be true , that I can cook better steak and chips in my ninja with Sainsbury’s / Asda 21 day matured ribeyes at a cost of around £6 each 👍🏻 I also quoted the I’ve had meals from the sizzler nearly as good for £10. I was absolutely gutted regarding the dress code too read on the website smart casual 😳 Diners with trainers /shorts / football tops and bloody puffa jackets, But don’t get me wrong being an avid shorts wearer winter or summer I may have been a tad jealous to have been told I need a shirt trousers and shoes 😳.

After settling the bill the waitress said hope to see yous again and I’ll pass your comments onto the manager 🤯🤯🤯

Very very disappointed customer Think I’ll stick to my ninja and £6 ribeyes👏🏻👏🏻 From a...
