Read moreReally nice place to come and have fish and chips. Lovely surroundings and spacious. Booking your table is recommended as it gets really busy. We went on bank holiday Monday and there were a few people being turned away as they hadn't made reservations. Luckily we had, and were seated in the middle of the floor as a table of 6, next to a lovely gloss black piano. The orders were taken quickly, as we all wanted fish and chips. ( 3 sizes available, Small, Medium, and Large. I can pack it away and was stuffed from the Medium size. See the photo I attached.) Even though it was fully booked the meals were served quickly, although they did forget the mushy peas and needed reminding. The food was fantastic and those of us who could cleared our plates. We had ordered a pot of tea between 2 people which was brought over during our meal. I counted the number of cups that we got from each pot, ( usually in places we have been before you struggle to get 2 cups each) EIGHT cups, yes 8 cups came out of one pot. They are the Tardis's of tea pots in there. After the main course 2 of us ordered a Ruhbarb and salted crumble Pannacotta, and the 2 children had brownies with ice cream. They were amazing, just nice to have after the fish, chips, and mushy peas. 😁. Price wise, well 6 of us had mains, 4 puddings and 2 pots of tea including tip came to just over £100, which I thought was amazing for such a nice place. In summary, a great spacious place to come and eat. I would have given 5 stars, but they forgot our mushy peas. We will be back. PS if you prefer not to sit inside, they have a take away section to the left of the entrance. The bank holiday queues were quite long though, but you can then eat some wonderful food whilst sitting in the sun looking out over the beach and...
Read moreWhat a transformation, it's been quite a few years since I've been to Spanish City. It was all dodgems and roller-coasters, one armed bandits and penny falls last time. Now we enter the iconic dome and find a beautifully decorated multi restaurant venue, full of gold leaf and plush furnishings. After a quick drink from the bar we go down to take our table in Trenchers restaurant to eat. It's fish most the way for starters and fish all the way for mains, 500g mussels, prawn cocktail and a beetroot salad were starters and they were all great portions very nice, the nicest mussels I've had, very soft, loads of flavour, lovely. Everyone else enjoyed there starters too, clean plates all round. Mains were three lots of fish and chips with mushy peas and a fish pie. Again full of flavour, beautifully cooked and generous portions. We couldn't manage desserts, everyone was full as a gun as my mother used to say. My only criticism would be every fish restaurant I've ever been to served fish and chips with a slice or two of bread and cups of coffee normally come with a little biscuit or sweet these days. The restaurant wasn't busy but our mushy peas were missed off the plate but all things considered a very nice meal in beautiful surroundings, we will visit again .
Edit/addition:- Returned for the Burns Night celebration, superb food, great service and excellent...
