Visited today again as part of a group of 8 cyclists and unfortunately the service was very poor. Food came out at a reasonable rate, but the drinks were up to 30 minutes in arriving, plus they missed out some of the drinks until we complained. There seemed to be sufficient staff but perhaps they were just having an off day. Hopefully will be better when/if we return. It's a shame as it's a good location for us and lots of hoops to lock out bikes to My first visit as part of a group of 10 cyclists. They coped well with the numbers, quickly getting drinks and food out to us. There was a good selection of cakes, etc and at a reasonable price. It was nice to find plenty of hoops to lock our bikes to, obviously they've given us cyclists a bit of thought. A useful addition to our "café collection" when out Sawley way.

Very disappointed with breakfast today. We paid £18 for two coffees and two breakfast cobs. The cobs were extremely poor and felt reheated rather than cooked fresh. Fried egg like a fried rock 🪨 (overcooked). Limited menu due to the Christmas market. The staff seemed like they didn't want to be there (fair enough, it was a Saturday) but it was very disappointing for the price. Didn't even get my bread buttered for the money paid.

A really good bacon roll. A point off for the Lichfields sauce sachets - not the best. The complementary chutney was a nice touch, as was the lightly toasted roll which added a pleasant crunch. A nice selection of homemade cakes too, and fresh coffee. A pleasant find.

Went with my elderly Father for breakfast. We go out for breakfast somewhere every Friday morning, and have done so for the last three or four years. I can only judge this place on what it was like on the day, it was our first visit here. It’ll be our last. Quite frankly, one of the worst breakfasts we’ve ever had. He had scrambled eggs on toast, I had the full English. The eggs were very, very pale and remarkably bland. Very reminiscent of powdered eggs. I don’t claim that’s what they were, but they were awful. The full English came with the same eggs. It is also the first breakfast I’ve ever been served with one and a half sausages. Cheap multipack sausages, seemingly, chopped in half lengthwise and then fried. But why three halves? I’ve seen this done before at roadside lay-by huts, but never in a so called restaurant. I’m not a big coffee fan, but like a latte now and then, and that is what we both had here. The darkest coloured latte ever. Really strong, and bitter....

I have been a long-term customer of Cafe Blue for many years now. it has without a doubt been my go to cafe. I visited it today for the first time this year, and it is unrecognisable. The food is okay, though the choice has shrunk considerably. The thing that annoyed me most today was the change in opening hours. When I started coming to this cafe, you could turn up around 4-5, every day and have a nice cake and tea with good service. The opening hours are now 10 to 2, every day. That is just silly. 4 hours each day and they expect to keep customers? I would normally go out for a drink at around 3-4, so I guess I'm not coming here again then. The staff are different and are not as friendly as they used to be. They stopped people coming in claiming they weren't serving, whilst someone was being served. Is there new management, because this is certainly not the Cafe...

The staff here are lovely, always polite and helpful, however the manager is very grumpy and her customer service needs work. I worked here for a while and had to leave due to her making it a very uncomfortable working environment. Many other staff left for the same reasons and multiple regular customers have told me that she’s often rude to them and that they feel she hates them. The only reason they still come being convenience. I went in today and even after 5 months of leaving due to her incompetence as a manager she was still rude and ignorant to myself and my mother. Good luck having any issues resolved here if she is in as it’s all too much hassle, even shouting at an elderly lady when she asked how long her food would take to come as she’d been waiting a long time. I’d advise taking your money elsewhere for better customer service...
