AVOID. They are just there to take your money for shambolic service that takes advantage and average food. We had a meal there on Friday evening. We had been there for drinks on a previous occasion and it was a nice atmosphere. There were quite inexperienced staff who had mixed up our orders (one of the sides was wrong and one we had to order again as they hadn't taken it down - dry champ that came with no butter) and then proceeded to hand us someone else's bill. We were willing to overlook this as the younger waitresses were obviously fairly new. However, the reason I'm writing this is that they charged us an adult fish goujon meal at £15.50 (£7 difference) for a five year old and refused to refund us as we did not specifically state that this was a kids meal even though I stated it was for a child. My daughter (who had long hair in a plait but the waitress referred to as "the wee boy") couldn't eat all the chips and the manager's excuse was that she had ate all the fish goujons so we had to pay. Some places (such as The Millside in Cloughmills) do give children large portions so we never though to question such a large portion of goujons which initially just was presented without any side. I had initially questioned the price. My husband had went to sort it and they had the cheek to send another young waitress down with the same bill as if they had rectified the price. He paid before he had realised. When I complained the manager put the blame on the waitress serving saying that she hadn't been there long and that she would learn. She wouldn't rectify the bill. I didn't want to make a scene in front of my daughter so we left. A relative of mine actually rang later to complain to the manager without my knowledge and her response was she had a business to run. There are better quality places to eat in this small town that are cheaper too and actually care about their customers. We will try the golf...
Read moreHad one of my parents out a run and Friday and we decided to give this place a try. Glad we did. Got a table by the window which enabled us to enjoy the best view of the beach and sea. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Had a couple of different menus to choose from, there was a choice of a starter and main for £20, with a £5 supplement for the ribeye, which I thought was great value for money. There was also another main menu, my dad was tempted by the chowder on it but ended up getting the £20 deal. We both went for the spicy soup as a starter, had a nice wee kick to it and was just the job for a wet day, for main I got the ribeye and he got the chicken smash. There wasn't anything left on our plates which tells it's own story. We only got 1 dessert between us, it was the apple and cinnamon crumble, it took a while to arrive, but that's not a complaint, as the hold up was due to the fact that it had to be baked. Again delicious. Another massive plus for me was the massive smoking area located the entire length of the side of the building overlooking the sea, with a proper roof. No tin hut or bus stop type structure. Would recommend the...
Read moreWe went for much today and the whole experience was awful. It took 15 minutes just to get out drinks - coke and fanta! It wasn't busy, 3 other tables being used. We waited 45 minutes and then had to ask how long the food would be. The girl didn't know and said she would find out. The table next to us hadnt been cleared since we arrived and still wasn't when we left. The food finally arrived and it looked awful. The sausages didn't look cooked and the egg has burst all over the plate. We told them and he just said 'oh, do you want me to ask them to get you another'. We then told them to just keep the food. We went to pay for the drinks, no change so we had to wait. No apology or anything. It was absolutely appalling service and food. Would definitely not...
