Function room - 40th Party booked on Sat 18th. I am the lead booker for this party and I would like to share some facts. First off I think every review needs to have the truth good or bad. I cannot complain about the standard of food or the venue itself which I am very much happy with. The issue is with the standard of service and quantity of food purchased. I organised a party for 50 plus people. The management team said that the food cost for that would be £500 venue hire and buffet. I asked at the time of booking if this would cover any extra people coming. I was assured that this would cover 50-70 people. I also said at the time of booking that I intend to have an earlier party around 6 so that kids could attend and family could get the last train home. (Manager/Owner denied knowledge of this) when the food eventually came it was lovely but alot of the guests didn't get much food at all including myself. (This was a fear of mine as we had a previous function with the same issue and we had to purchase more food)

Also on the day of party I spoke with Management/Owner regarding this fear but again he assured me there is enough to cover 70) When we said to the service staff they just said 50 plates were put out therefore 50 people ate. Feeling let down by the service best thing was to carry on and enjoy the night. Near end of the night when people where dancing. The Bar staff decided to pop our balloons when the party didn't even end or ask permission with myself or wife. I booked the DJ until 11.30 and was happy to put my own music on into the small ours but wasn't allowed by the bar staff even though this was allowed previously. Approx 11.45pm I ask for another pint but to be told that the bar was closed. Who requested that I asked? Bar staff said the DJ called last orders but I said did you ask the lead booker if that was ok.? Either way they closed the til and there was no offer to get another drink from the above restaurant/bar might I add.

Next day I rang to make a complaint to be told by owner/ management he was too busy to speak as it was Mothers Day.

On the 21st we spoke with the Owner/ Management firstly I rang then again my wife followed with a further conversation

Firstly he did apologize for the ending the party earlier, popping balloon etc but said that one of our party told the barman they were finished up but the barman told us it was the DJ who told him to finish up. Either way it wasn't me the booker of the venue.

But these are the comments he mentioned over the phone regarding the food.

He didn't know we had a party planned earlier and that people should have had Dinner before they have a party buffet

He said he was very surprised as he never had a party start that early but parties should start approx 7.30. (Our previous function was a christening so it was alot earlier than the one we had) What time do wedding functions start at?. The reason we picked this venue was the close proximity to the train station and it was easier for some of our party to come earlier and get the last train home.

He accused my guest of being scavengers and that people where taking food off him when he coming down the stairs. He said 'he has never seen the likes of it in his life'. Again untrue!

He said he wanted to keep the cost down for us and didn't want charge for more food.

This is the deal if we didn't bring over 50 guests then the actual price of the hire of the hall would increase to £700

he also commented on that no one is going to win here but we disagree as the bar took a fair bit of takings for the night including the £500 booking fee.

-this is our second function here and we will not be back nor will any of our party. It could have been sorted had the owner/manager shown some consideration to our comments rather than rudely blame the party! The only thing he acknowledged was the bar closing early.

To make matters worse he said the individual who put on a bad review his solicitors will be in touch with them due to inaccuracies Will your solicitors be in touch...

Didn't want the formality of restaurant dining, so opted for lunch in the lounge bar. The setting was warm and comfortable, if you don't mind horse racing on the big screen TV. Service was good and the menu adequate. I opted for the chicken stack with a side of skinny fries and my partner the 10oz sirloin with garlic potatoes. The portions were excellent and the food was of a good quality. My partners eyes were bigger than her tummy and couldn't finish hers, so you'll be glad to hear they will box up what you don't eat so you can take it home. I soldiered on and decided on dessert, for which I chose lemon cheesecake with ice cream, however, the waiter was distracted and I got fresh cream which at the end of the day I didn't mind, so no complaints, and it was beautiful served with fresh berries and honeycomb. Together with a large glass of wine for the lady and a pint of coke the bill came to a little over £60. Hadn't been here in years, but would recommend it for a lazy lunch followed by a few bevvies for those who want to make an...

Having been here a number of times and found the food good, portions on the larger size and service excellent, on this occasion I found the standard of the food being presented has dropped off.

We ate off the lunch special which is served between 12 and 6pm and is good value.

To start, battered mushrooms, they were served dripping in oil, consequently they were overbearing and I only managed two before being put off. My other half had deep fried brie, usually the cheese is runny, not this time, which set us up for two disappointing starters.

Mains comprised of an 8oz sirloin steak, chips, mixed veg, onion/mushrooms on top and a boat of pepper sauce.

Some of the chips were not cooked right through, the peppers sauce was watery, otherwise the rest was good, unfortunately the aforementioned ruined the mains experience.

Not sure if this place has changed hands but it's not as good as it was, next time I'll drive on round to the...

Just in Belfast visiting a friend so had never been here before and neither had she, we hadnt heard any reviews so took the risk, so glad we did it was lovely, the staff are so welcoming one gentleman in particularly we didn't catch his name sadly, we were in 9/4/19 around 5ish he was quite slim glasses anyone he couldnt have been more helpful and through in the odd joke and made us feel super at ease. The bar area seemed really relaxed and had a nice laid back atmosphere. The restaurant wasn't busy when we initially went in however by the time we left it was chocka!! The menu had so many choices, we werent disappointed the food was absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced to. Only thing missings a beer garden!!!! Would definitely recommend ☺
