I don't normally leave reviews, but I am pretty disappointed by the behaviour of who I am assuming to be the owner or manager of this cafe (the older woman with short blondish hair). When we first moved to Norwich this was the first place we went to for breakfast. I remember loving the service and food, so we booked a table here for our friend's birthday breakfast. We booked online, and the time 13:45 was available. Online it says they will hold your table for 15 mins until you arrive and that you have an hour to eat. Our friend arrived at 13:45 and was told the kitchen was closing soon. We arrived at 13:50 and immediately ordered the standard breakfast and it arrived quickly. The waiting staff were lovely, and I can't fault them. There were a few other tables still eating as well, but we sensed that the owner/manager wanted everyone to leave as she was rushing around clearing up tables in a huff. We quickly ate our meal and finished by 14:30, 15 minutes before our alloted "1 hour dining time" . We were the last customers there, and we heard the owner around the corner to the kitchen shouting loudly and obviously about us, "get out, get out!" and rudely ordering one of the waiters to clear our plates away. We quickly went up to pay and the owner/manager wouldn't even look us in the eye or say thank you. I've previously worked in service and completley understand what it's like when you want to be done with the day. But it's ridiculously unacceptable to treat paying customers like that. If you don't want people to eat at that time, why allow people to book at that time??? I can't believe someone who appears to be in charge would set such a poor example of customer service. We will happily never eat here again and will tell our friends to spend their money elsewhere. There are plenty of places to get a good fry up in Norwich without being made to feel like a nuisance. Lady, if you're reading this I suggest you take a holiday and reassess why you work in the service...
Read moreWe had a fairly poor experience at this cafe. The older, rather arrogant wench-in-charge is the root of the problems I believe, as the rest of the serving staff were pleasant and helpful. We came in, there were plenty of tables. We had not been able to use the booking system to reserve a table, despite having tried. We are grudgingly allowed to have one of the many open tables if we promised to be out in an hour. We were done in 30 minutes, why does she think people want to sit in her cafe all day? The coffee was bitter, probably a cheap arabica/robusta mix. The teabag was low quality and the pot a) was damaged b) poured more tea on the table than in my husband's cup. The person setting the menu is fixated on hash browns. They seem to come with or in almost everything. The sausages in my "No Nonsense" breakfast and the eggs were ok. The streaky bacon did taste better than it looked. Bubble and squeak was greasy and had no flavour. Plate finished with 2 pieces of fried bread, 1 slice of white toast. I...
Read moreVery nice little cafe in the city with a chilled vibe. They do an excellent vegan breakfast (small or large). It's a bit pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for: a good range of delicious food and some of the best customer service I have ever experienced. I actually went there twice during my stay in Norwich. On my first visit, they were missing one of the items on the menu to make up my breakfast, but they made up for it with extra portions of other items. When I came back the next day they had all the items, so everything was fine. They have a free jukebox with a wide selection of rock/indie/alternative albums. The member of staff I spoke to there said she was impressed with my taste in music! Speaking of staff, they were all very friendly, polite, and welcoming. They're great to talk to, but will happily leave you be if you just want to relax. I stayed there for a few hours to do some writing until they closed. Will definitely go back there again if I get...
