We went around lunch time and ordered some burgers. DELICIOUS! I highly recommend any burger on the menu. You might get a little messy. Luckily, they have a nice and clean bathroom located downstairs to clean up in.
I faulted a star for the staff. Upon entering the establishment, a woman at the bar just smiled and said “hi”. I was a little lost since there were reservation notes on almost every table. I asked if we just pick any table to sit at and she said yes or you can order at the bar and sit. So I stood at the bar and asked for a menu, the same woman said I needed to sit at a table in order to see the menu.. then go back to the bar to order. We found a cute table near a window view of the river. Once we got the menu’s, I asked “so are you a waitress or do we need to order at the bar and she looked confused and said order with me (the waitress)… okay.
It would have been much better to have been greeted and told directly “choose any table with no reservation on it or a time that is later and then someone will come to serve you.” Instead I was left scrambling to understand how to order anything! Haha
Also, you must pay for any additional sauces like ketchup, mayonnaise, etc for your chips (50p). I thought that was a little ridiculous just for something to dip some chips in casually. I’ve never seen that before at a sit down restaurant.
Anyways, the joint is really clean and cute with a wonderful view and delicious food. I...
Read moreFirst time at this great CAMRA Good Beer Guide 2024 public house located right on the River Wensum by Fye Bridge.
We sat inside but there is a seating gallery with sun umbrellas outside directly over the River.
The pub has a screen or two for sports but they were not showing anything during our time there.
Friendly bar staff and we spoke about how a Stout can be a great drink for any season of the year not just winter!
We had two pints and two half pints of the lovely Nutty Ambassador Hazlenut Milk Stout by The Little Critters Brewing Company. The beer is top class and a very reasonable able price indeed.
The pub serves alcoholic drinks other than real ale however it is rightly in CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide, with nine hand pumps on offer, and the staff will let you taste and chat about the ales if you are undecided what to have or maybe you are new to ale drinking, making it a welcoming place to have a try.
We didn’t eat this time but pizzas and other meals are available.
The Pub has an excellent location and it was really enjoyable to watch kayaks, rowing boats and paddle boarders going past.
A very chilled, mellow vibe going on
Thank you indeed to the Staff and we...
Read moreThis is the worst 'service' I have ever encountered at any business.
The staff member I had the misfortune of interacting with was exceptionally rude and hostile to an almost comical extent. I was taken aback by the total lack of the most basic manners and respect for customers. The way I was spoken to was completely disgraceful. I have never been spoken to like that in my life as a customer of any business, let alone a so called 'hospitality' venue. I can tell you there's nothing hospitable about this establishment.
It is not how I expect to treated as a customer. I would give the service negative stars if I could.
I would certainly hope that this is far from the service that Punch Pubs would expect from one of the pubs in their portfolio and quite frankly tarnishes the brand in my eyes.
I won't be coming back and will advise those I know to not come here. There are lots of much better pubs in the area - go visit those. If you're asking what pub has more polite service, the answer is literally...
