The second coming, appropriately at Easter for a whistle stop meeting with my daughter & boyfriend. Where can you get a roast dinner all day & for £11 with a drink? The Shoe Makers, Norwich. It really is cheap n cheerful but in the best way. The roasts & fish n chips were cooked to perfection & piping hot & a salad I had last month, outside, was fresh, crisp & had a delicious dressing. The interior is interesting, colourful & indicative to Norwich. The reason for the review, is the staff. Hadley the Barman, since only Dec(!) is professional, knowledgeable, approachable, and so damn cheerful! One can see he is a kind, honest, good person that likes people & service. He is a real asset to any establishment, so keep your eyes open & don’t let him go Shoe Makers Management. You can teach customer service & hospitality, but Hadley is a natural. I also met the Assistant Manager, Harrison. A lovely, warm, friendly chap, who also exudes charm & professionalism. Either wouldn’t be out of place in Mayfair. Happy Easter x

Sat down with the family then we were told to move. Apparently we we in over 18s area. This was not signed although the waitress said it was. an over eighteens only area. I asked her to show me the sign. There wasn't one as the photograph attached shows. She took great exception to me photographing the none existent sign -One star removed for feeling like we had broken some secret rule. Once relocated we sat down and ordered at the bar. A nicer waiter offered to put the TV on the channel of our choice. Pint of beer was a little short so another star gone. Till had problems with a Blue light card. In summary our visit was a rather average experience. Food was OK but orders were mixed up and not as per menu. Waiter explained recent menu changes were difficult. I am no expert but all the menu choices looked very simple to me. We won't visit again.

We ordered the 8oz rump steak and Korean BBQ chicken burger set and we were not disappointed.I think so far it’s the best Korean burger I have had since moving to the UK,10/10 for me.I just wished they did not forget my onion rings but that’s ok I’m not too bothered with it.The steak that we had as well done but it had huge lumps of fats in the steak which had to throw away. But I feel like for the food that your paying it’s really value for money. There is even a playgroup for kids to run around and blow some steam.Additionally there is plenty of sitting available.I personally felt that it look quite a while for the food to come out only downside part. All in all, would highly recommend everyone to come and give Shoe Makers a go.And I myself will definitely be coming back whenever I’m nearby.

This is hungry horse, Shoe makers Norwich, from a subjective perspective, not as good as Wetherspoons, and usually from 4 experiences a bit of a bun fight. However this one was not busy, looked tidy, pleasant staff, so we thought we’re off to the races🤞 Ordered and asked for iced jug of water, and told they did not have ice-in a pub🤔🆘 Ultimate Big. Combo Sharing starter came, full of chips, and very FEW, scampi, sufficient chicken nuggets, and underdone-NOT crispy chicken wings. My wife’s Chicken tandoori Sizzler came, was ok, but she had to scrape off chicken sauce as it was unbearably spicy-great shame😕 My BGR Sizzler Combo came, I asked for medium rare steak-which came medium-well done, cut one piece off and not good at all, tough and not a sign of blood/juice. Left the steak Chicken wings-again-were not crispy and looked ‘broiled’ The double burger was very very well done, disappointed , and know that Health & Safety mandate they should be cooked, but cremated? No! This was a TESCO deal, and should have not made any difference. On asking for the receipt, The Manager-a personable young man, and hitherto our departure, had been totally professional, however he never asked if we had enjoyed our meal. A touch of foreboding possibly, when I asked for the receipt. Hungry Horse, not good, I suppose that whilst not expecting Gordon Ramsay standards, one would expect a cook to know the difference between medium rare and well done, and most people would assume chicken wings to be...

Took my kids here for lunch yesterday and totally regret it. Only 1 out of the 3 meals was ok. When I ordered my meal I was told they didn't have everything so I had to swap some bits. Then when my meal came , not only was it wrong but they put something on my plate I pacifically requested them not too. I told the waitress and she began to question me. Ie) You sure you told the lady at the bar? ( yes!) Are you allergic to it? Have you been here or to another one of our restaurants before? Ect. I answered the questions and she took the meal. When I finally got the meal I requested, it was awful. The flavour, texture and presentation was awful and I couldn't eat it ( Except the chips and corn) And My youngest sons food was no better. Only my eldest's Sons food was ok. Nobody came to check on us to ask, and When the lady did finally come over 15+ mins later and I spoke to her about the meal, she questioned me again.. and then she took the plates away. I wasn't offered a replacement meal, a refund or a proper apology. I spent around £35 altogether ( would have been more with desert but we decided against them after) for me to only be able to eat the chips and a piece of corn. I definitely wont be going there again. It was ment to be a nice treat out for me and my boys, and it was spoilt. The Only good thing about our experience was the young lady at the bar who served me. She was very kind, polite and professional. Any stars I give are because of her, if not for her they...

Very hit and miss, unfortunately! Yesterday I had the 'curry special'. Absolutely awful experience! I asked for the vegetarian option, but needed to know if it had coconut in it as all the other curries had names ( korma, etc), but this had none. So I enquired, but was told they don't have a list of ingredients in the kitchen as its ready made! Eventually, it was sorted, and I received my meal. My family had Korma, which was good. My daughters chips ( part of the children's meals) were not cooked properly, and mine? Well, it was stone cold on the bottom and half cooked. I politely requested it to be sorted, so I waited another 10 mins as everyone else ate. When it returned, the dish was a mess. Obviously, it had been tipped out and put back, so it looked a mess. The curry was cooked to the point of no return. It was dry. The chicken peas were hard bullets and sweet potato dried and shrivelled. I couldn't eat it. So wanted food. Half cooked or overcooked food. Overall, it was a bad experience. Yet, last week.....what a difference! This was the best fish dish I've had for years! I'm dubious about fish and chip meals as I've had a fair few that were awful. Stodgy batter, dry fish.....However, this was on par with high-end restaurants! Crisp tasty batter encasing soft, moist, flakey cod. All of the food was amazing, especially as the prices were so good. I believe Aiden was the chef. Ashley was our customer service lady and is lovel, too. The staff are friendly and...
