Bombay Nights — Restaurant in Nottingham

My partner and I ate here for the first time ever, as dine in (table reserved in advance) guests, very recently.

Upon our arrival, we were met by a small group of very smartly dressed staff members/servers and were seated at our table really quickly. The table its self, looked, quite nicely set and clean. As did, the restaurant, overall! After being seated, we noticed that we were the first guests for dinner service on that particular evening. So, until further guests arrived, it was noticeably quiet (besides my partner and I talking amongst ourselves). Staff members were standing inside the entrance way during this time, engaging with one another. We could hear them from across the room, and they us presumably, which left the atmosphere feeling somewhat 'awkward', for the first 30 mins of the evening (approx). I think some sort of music, or other background noise(s), may resolve this.

After placing our orders, our food was served to us nice & hot, and made, with what you could tell were fresh, good quality, ingredients. Simply upon looking and smelling everything. Portion size(s) were good, with the serving staff always close by and prompt in assisting you further, if needed.

The overall experience was excellent for us! We shall definitely be returning to dine in again some time soon. But, we intend to try their takeaway service, for on our next visit. May review again, separately,...

We booked the restaurant for a birthday party for up to 50 people. When we made the booking a couple of months ago, we were told that we didn't need to pay anything for children under 8. We counted the adults and children above 8 and there were 47 people. We accidentally counted one extra person and thought there were 48 People (they said it would be half price for the children between 8-12 years old). The manager was so rude and kept arguing that there were 52 people. He changed us for 50 people when there were only 47 people including the kids above 8. He charged full price for the children. So arrogant and disrespectful. We didn't want to argue in front of our guests so we just paid what they asked for. Chicken drumsticks on one of our tables were not cooked properly. I would never go there again unless that manager is sacked. He was nightmare but the rest of the staff was very friendly and polite. I think for £18 per person, we deserve a better treatment. I have eaten here many times before, around 10 times, many of which were great experiences. However my previous meal for my birthday a few days ago with 5 guests was not the standard of quality of food I was expecting. The grilled salmon was rock hard and consisted of 3 tiny pieces which was a total dissapointment, we ordered 3 mixed grills, the meats was hard, chewy and, dry as wood, no juices were in sight, it was overcooked. We also ordered a curry which was lacking flavour and was cooked incorrectly (the onions were still raw). This was once a very good restaurant, it is still very clean and friendly, but what is the point of spending £75 on food that doesn't taste up to scratch. Everyone including myself was dissapointed. I will not be returning as the chefing team has now changed.
