Attleborough Arms — Restaurant in Nuneaton and Bedworth

Unfortunately this place has gone down hill drasticly. I have been using this pub on and off for the past 20 years. This is NOT the place it used to be, not the great place you will remember. Change of management/landlord. Now what you get is.... NO CHILDREN ALLOWED.. you are turned away and refused entry if you have kids with you; But it is ok for the landlord to entertain kids in the licenced areas. I do understand and can see the benefits of no kids from the licencing side of things, but I think it's wrong, verry wrong that the place can exclude children (unless they are friends or relatives of the landlord). Please please please, DO NOT PAY CONTACTLESS, (if you want a receipt). They will give you a merchant's copy of the receipt, this is extremely dangerous for your card security As it has your full details on it. When I mentioned this to them I got the reply "I've given you a receipt I don't care" If you are paying cash, you got no kids with you and you are wanting to support a sinking ship, I applaud you and please enjoy the establishment as i have done over the past 20 years. Visited the pub on Saturday night . Firstly we were greeted with sick outside but unlike other pubs , it was cleaned up very fast so thank you for that ! The staff all were very friendly and helpful, even helped carry drinks to our table so thank you for that ! We saw a girl trying to buy drinks for her friends, 1 of the friends didn't want anymore and although the girl was being very persistent with her friend, the guy behind the bar took note and refused to include her friend in the round " brilliant " Drinking up time , the door staff walked around giving everyone enough notice but at the same time they told customers not to try and knock the drink back , they still had 5 minutes or they could pour their drink into a plastic glass and finish it off outside. We were impressed how responsible all the staff were and they obviously care for their customers and not just the money in the till . Overall atmosphere was really good and staff were amazing. Booked a few weeks ago to celebrate my wife's and mine one month anniversary,( which I mentioned on booking, not for extra treatment but just for a quiet corner) wasn't expecting the earth first time in the venue, just a nice evening. We was told it was a great pub with a nice atmosphere, so we was looking forward to some nice food and a good night out. No communication on entry to the pub by The man who served us tonight. We was shown a table and had to ask 5 minutes later where the menus where, not a great start, be more attentive guys. Food bought over, and then cutlery a few moments later. no sauces offered either or told where they where, not great on a first visit, so disappointed with customer service over all. Food was nice, but having the local runners sat next to us smelling their trainers while we eat( not the pubs fault where people sit) but isn't a great atmosphere, for people eating food.
