I’ve just had the most ridiculous experience at KFC Weddington. Ordered in the drive through at 8.20pm (just a kids meal and gravy mega box). Went to the collection window and I was told it would be 3 mins and asked to park up.
There were no cars behind me so I said I’d just wait at the window, and move if a car came. The staff (at least 4 different members) wouldn’t accept this and kept saying I had to move as there was timer on the window and their manager would be annoyed if a car sat there for too long.
I’d completely understand this if there were any other cars but there weren’t, and as I explained on numerous occasions, when the food is ready it’s quicker for them to hand it to me through the window rather than them walking through the restaurant and to the carpark.
Anyway, the staff refused to accept this so I asked for a refund. This entire situation took 7 mins and I sat at the window the whole time (still no other cars appeared). I had my refund, they lost an order and I won’t be returning, so note to the manager…teach your staff common sense instead of ridiculous rules which, had those 4 staff members been cooking instead of standing around disagreeing with me, wouldn’t have happened. I live on Weddington Rd and I went into Aldi after, mentioned my experience to a customer in there and they said they also live on Weddington but go to Bermuda KFC as they always get terrible...
Read moreThinking it would be quicker than going anywhere else, we visited tonight but ended up spending over 20 minutes in the drive thru.
There was a notice saying there was an issue that they were trying to overcome a comment about not being abusive to staff, but we sat it out, mainly because I had a car behind me and didn't want to ask them to reverse!
I don't mind waiting, we were late taking my daughter out, but there are bigger problems in the world, but what confused me the most was there was no apology.
Had there been a "Hi, sorry about the wait, how can I help you?" I would not be writing this, but nothing, not at point of order, or at the collection window.
I get that there may be issues, which, to an outsider looking in, may not be obvious, but the restaurant is clearly aware, or they wouldn't have put up the sign, but did no one think to instruct the staff to acknowledge it and apologise?
All it takes is a quick "thanks for waiting", "thanks for bearing with us" or a "sorry for the delay". Come on, this is fairly basic level customer...
