I don't like to do this, but we have tried to talk to the owner, I even went in to the pub but was told he had left, and he is being very immature and will not have a conversation with us at all.
We went to the Newdigate Arms for a Father's Day meal yesterday (8 adults and 4 children) and received a call today to say we are banned. The owner was extremely rude to me and wouldn't listen to a thing we had to say. However they told us we left the room a mess (there was some food on the floor from having 4 kids eating, but by no means was this excessive, otherwise we would have offered to clean it up ourselves), we were rude to the staff (they missed an item from the order which was an onion ring 'add-on' for a cheeseburger. And when we were asked if we had everything we ordered, we mentioned we were missing some onion rings. They then brought us a full portion and then put the more expensive version on the bill which we insisted that they remove because they were refusing to), and they said we brought our own desserts (all adults had a dessert except one, 3 kids shared their parent's dessert and my son who has autism and has a limited list of safe foods and had some store bought jam tarts - I wouldn't mind but we even ordered him garlic bread and nachos which he refused and then proceeded to buy him 2 packets of quavers and a packet of maltesers to make sure we were still ordering something from the restaurant that he would eat. We explained this to the waitress as well and they sounded very accommodating at the time).
It's a shame because the food is good and we have chosen the Newdigate for several family get togethers now, but even if this ban is lifted we know that our family isn't welcome. I've read other reviews and it seems that they may have an issue with kids here, if they had said that when we made the booking then we wouldn't have dropped over £200 on them. We even made them aware on the booking that our son is autistic so that they had some warning.
We had a lovely time yesterday and all the staff were fantastic. We even thanked them profusely as we left. Clearly the owner is the problem here.
Note: I'm sure I'll get a snarky reply from the owner to this post asking me to clarify this and that, it seems quite common for...

Ā Ā Ā Read moreAwful experience. Have ate at the newdigate on a few occasions and has always been lovely. I booked well in advance for a 40th birthday meal with family. Whole party arrived and we placed our order, few minutes later we were advised that there would be a slight delay as they had a big party that had just placed their food and they would be served first. All the toilets were blocked apart from the one disabled toilet that everyone then had to queue up for and even that had water/ urine on the floor. Over an hour of waiting our food finally arrived, the childās tomato pasta was absolutely vile, looked like ketchup had just been placed on top. The other childās meal was a cheese and tomato pizza which came out last after having to chase it. Soggy as anything I could have popped to the local Aldi and picked up their 89p pizza which looks and tastes better. Hunters chicken was cold, spicy prawn linguine was just like a spicy soup with a handful of prawns. Steak and ale pie tasted like dog food. Oreo sundae went down a storm and was the only thing my children ate that evening and was probably the best course of the night. I can not fault the staff they were all lovely and couldnāt apologise enough over the delay of the food. I certainly wonāt be visiting again and itās a shame as it was a nice place to visit but can see how it is going to end up due to the landlord never being there. Leaves the bar staff (mainly young women) to deal with everything and after Saturday nights events I donāt think thatās very fair or safe for...
