My wife had booked a table for the 2 of us for a Valentines dinner at 5pm, a week in advance. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were asked for our reservation name, only to be told we werenāt even listed. Even though two days prior to going, somebody from the restaurant phoned us to confirm our booking! Great start!
The waiter spent 5 mins pondering his booking list with much confusion, as if our names were going to magically appear. Not that it would have really mattered as when we arrived 15 mins early, the place had only two other couples dining.
We were eventually given a table for two, were we ordered a couple of drinks and began perusing the menu. The restaurant is fairly nicely decored and has a bar lounge area, presumably for waiting at busier times. The menu is your standard fair, when it comes to the selection of Indian food. Anything youāve ever ordered from an Indian takeaway was on there.
Our table was laced with rose petals and the waiter even came up and lit the little heart shaped candle for us. So we promptly ordered and begun to finally relax and enjoy our romantic evening. Our poppadoms and variety of dips arrived promptly, as did our starter. The food was fresh, but nothing earth shattering.
Then it happened! We'd been at the restaurant around 30mins, and there was us and the two other couples as previously mentioned, dining in the restaurant. Which looks to probably seat around 50 people at a guess? So the waiter shows another couple to the table by the side of us. Nothing wrong with that it is a public restaurant after all! However this particular couple had brought their young daughter along. Nothing wrong with that, it is a family restaurant after all!
However! This particular couples daughter like most children, liked to sing, dance, talk really loudly etc. And using parenting techniques clearly observed from The Jeremy Kyle show. When the father asked the mother "Havenāt you got anything to shut her up!?ā The mother had the perfect solution! Give the child your Iphone, and let her watch Pepper Pig with the volume on full.
Great! You can imagine at this point any illusions of a romantic evening meal, had just burned out along with the heart shaped candle on our table. Thatās not the restaurants fault though right!? Wrong, I mean what on godās green earth, would possess you to sit a family with a child! Next! To a couple, trying to enjoy a romantic evening meal on Valentineās Day. Especially When the rest of the restaurant is empty with plenty of available tables!!
Needless to say, my wife and I shovelled our main courses down in a bid to escape a complete episode of Cbeebies. We promptly asked for the bill! 20 mins later, still waiting for the bill. Which only arrived when my wife and I started putting our coats on! Then shock horror £60!!!
For 4 poppadoms, 2 starters, 2 main meals, 2 portions of rice and 4 drinks!! What! I know itās a restaurant, and you pay for the experience. Which we clearly didnāt get! Our local Ayaan takeaway which produces food of better quality, can provide 4 poppadoms, 1 naan bread, 4 onion bhajis, 2 sheek kebab, 2 meat samosaās, and 2 main meals with rice all for Ā£25.
Total Rip off! Would not recommend, especially on a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy partner & I visited for the first time on Saturday night (9pm). We rang to reserve a few hours before & weāre told it wasnāt necessary. When we arrived, the venue was 3/4 empty. Thereās a large function room to the right as you walk in, which was blasting party tunes. You could hear this in the restaurant & as a result, the Asian background music was louder than usual, so conversation was tricky. (1* off the atmosphere for this). Once seated, we were impressed at how clean the restaurant was. There are glass chandeliers and even they were gleaming. The restaurant menu is packed with options & the friendly waiter was happy to make recommendations. He said theyād happily make something not on the menu if requested too. (Within reason). In the end, my partner opted for the Chicken Tikka Chilli Fry to start, a chicken bhuna & a plain naan. I chose onion bhaji, a veggie rogan Josh & a garlic naan. We shared boiled rice & chips. The food was delicious & all tasted freshly made. Aside from a small-ish sized portion of chips, all of the portions were generous. We had a strawberry & lime Kopperberg each & a jug of water. The total cost was Ā£56. We will...
Read moreAbsolutely terrible . Booked a meal for family birthday 6 weeks prior to the 4th of december . We were asked to pre-order as the amount of people attending was in excess of 10 . Got the orders together no problem. I week before the meal was asked again to pay £5 each deposit and askwd again to preorder but now asked to chose from a set menu as the orders were to varied. Then on the evening we were asked agian to order as the venue was only now taking a christmas menu . On arrival we entered the party room and was confronted with drunken revelers and christmas party people clearly drunk . Waited over an hour for the table to become ready and only as we asked twice to be seated . . Then we had to wait another hour for the starters to arrive . And when the main course came the rice was squashed and thrown on the table. The manager said he would sort things out as we tried to make a complaint . Only to be told he left when it came to pay and attempted to over charge by 3 portions which my elderly mother had kindly wished to pay for . Total shamble unless you were on a staff party or company meal . Neglected at every turn and wont be...
