First time of going there and we turned up not thinking to book a table. Thankfully, they were really accommodating and found us a table in the window. We settled down and our drinks order was taken quickly and we were given the menus.
We both settled on their Sunday lunch, 1 beef and 1 pork belly.
I kid you not, this was easily the BEST Sunday roast I’ve ever had. We ordered 2 of the sides, Cauliflower cheese & the pork & cranberry stuffing with pigs in blankets.
It was a really decent sized portion, really well seasoned (didn’t bother with salt & pepper on it) Could have quite easily walked away after that with a full belly and a smile on my face, but we decided to get 2 desserts and share them.
We had the Apple & Peach Crumble aswell as the sticky toffee pudding.
Oh my gawd! They were stunning!
I honestly don’t have one bad word to say. The food, the staff, the atmosphere… they were all spot on!
For 2 mains, 2 sides, 2 desserts and drinks, it cost us £65. We left a £15 tip as we thought it...
Read moreWe had dinner this evening celebrating my birthday and our 23rd wedding anniversary. Table booked for 6.30pm, prompt service for drinks but them waited almost an hour for the food to arrive. Sadly, although my pan fried sea bass was very tasty, it was only lukewarm. I informed the waiter of this and he said he would inform the chef and that was the last I heard of the issue. I did eat the meal as I was pretty hungry but felt somewhat disappointed, food should be hot. I later ordered an Irish Coffee which arrived promptly but the waitress had spilt the coffee on route to the table and the cream was spilt down the glass and the bottom of the glass Nd plate was floating in cream. I did request a replacement which was delivered as requested with only a minor spillage. Although we had a pleasant evening i do feel slightly disappointed that a special occation was not as special as it should have been. For these reasons I would feel somewhat...
Read moreToday I only gave 3 stars, not because the food wasn't as good as always it was extremely good. The problem we had was we waited a very long time to receive the food. It looked like too many bookings had been taken. We have been many times and found the food to be really good. Our son took ill while we waited for the food. He attempted to eat the roast beef lunch but he couldn't manage it. As he had the Sunday lunch with a plate of beef potatoes vegetables Cauliflower cheese and part of a Yorkshire pudding, practically the whole meal, I didn't think it unreasonable to ask if it was possible to take away. I was horrified when I saw the idea of a box to takeaway. The lady came to the table with a tiny box that had the whole meal crammed inside. This was very unfortunate and packed in this way was tacky and unprofessional. It certainly did not present your food at its best and frankly gave a poor impression of what should have been...
