We came here for a drink after going for a walk in the local area. It was a sunny afternoon which we were able to enjoy from the fairly large beer garden outside - the garden had a relaxed atmosphere with nice views of the surrounding hills, it is also dog friendly which is a big plus for us. Fairly limited selection of drinks on tap but bottled options also available - average prices with both pints coming in at just under a tenner. Inside, the pub maintains a retro feel which is quite small but cosy.

Friendly place generous portions and great tasting food and reasonable prices. I had the steak and ale pie the flakey was the best plenty of steak in the pie and tasty. We also had the battered sausage which was enormous and tasty.

Friendly service. Good quality food. Huge portions. Fabulous value for money and utter bargain if you choose the weekday early bird menu or one of their daily specials. Will definitely visit again. Thank you.

I can honestly say what an awful experience. We visited here with 7 of my colleagues for a celebration meal and were greeted with awful customer service and frozen warmed up food.

We ordered a pizza as it was ‘pizza night’ Wednesday only to receive a shop bought burnt pizza that we refused to accept for £10.

When we sent the food back and asked for a replacement, the waitress informed us that the chef wanted to make us aware that we would still be charged, of course we asked to see a manager.

When the manager, the chef arrived, he was cocky, rude and completely offensive to say the least. He was confused why we did not want to pay for this and explained that he would refuse a refund as we were 10 minutes late for our booking and it was my fault it was burnt because it had been sat in the oven waiting for me.. due to a pre order. However on arrival we were asked to order our food and the pre order had been forgotten about. When I asked if the pizza we received was shop bought, he confirmed that it was and that pizza wasn’t on the menu.. ‘Wednesday pizza night’ was advertised all over the pub.

Along with this horrendous customer service, there was completely food standard of food, cleanliness and respect from start to finish.

when we were paying for our meals we have been told that we have had the pizza knocked off the menu only to realise that the pizza had been split onto everyone else’s bill.

DO NOT EAT HERE MANAGER IS RUDE AND UNINTERESTED FOOD IS FROZEN...

I am still shaking with anger and totally shell shocked with the horrendous experience. Myself and 7 colleagues pre ordered our meals one of which was a pizza( cost £9.50) Advertised as Pizza Wednesday. When this arrived it was totally burnt without garnish and was obviously a frozen, cheap shop purchased pizza. My colleague quite rightly sent this back. The chef then appeared and stated that it was our fault for not arriving on the dot. He said she would still be charged and went on to raise his voice and was very hostile. He admitted it was a shop bought pizza as he had other things to cook on on his menu. Instead of offering a replacement he repeated he had no more pizza , shop bought or other. The whole experience was horrendous, several of the other meals were very substandard and inedible. This was a classic case of reheating frozen food and not home cooked food as advertised. At the end of the meal we were told the chef had knocked the pizza off the bill only to find we had all been massively overcharged and the cost of a pint of coke was £5.65. We will never return here not only as the food is overpriced and not very nice but mainly due to the very unprofessional attitude of the chef. AVOID AT...

this is my now 2nd review for this pub. as a previous worker there is a few things i’d like to point out.

in the kitchen there is no use of gloves and hairnets/coverings. there was a few times i had to take orders back to be changed and the chef (alan the owner) would pick up the fish and/or other parts of the food to swap over to another plate or take off or put new bits on. the communication between the restaurant is awful manger and owner have no respect for workers. i was also told i would be paid and contacted but after 33 days i had to email 3 times and leave 1 review before i was told i could come and collect my “£9.19” one last thing is the state of the kitchen, there is normally a HUGE mountain of pots and pans stacked with no pot wash in the sink. there is also normally trays of potato skins and other various foods stacked in trays on the cooker or on the sides. i do not recommend for work i barley recommend for food and i will never recommend to...
