I had to leave a review. Too many red flags 🚩 for the best fish and chip shop in Oldham 🤣 Shocking absolutely shocking on all levels. BAD FOOD, WAITED TOO LONG, HYGIENE AND SERVICE WAS POOR. I will never come back here ever again! Wasted food, time and money. Met with Dirty tables from last customers, rubbish everywhere.
Order: 3 standard fish and chips A Special fish and chips, Curry sauce and peas plus drinks.
Experience: I sat there with my kids just constantly thinking how bad the chips was and my kids said the same. Chips fried in OLD nasty dirty oil with old bits in it. Was not edible at all, rock hard chips, worst chips I've had in my life. Fish was oily and batter was soggy and disgusting. fish was mushy and tasted metallic. 🤢🤮 I felt sickly while eating it, and couldn't bare to eat anymore.
Dishes: The special Large fish and chips looked exactly the same as the standard fish and chips just got charged more. So not worth it at all.
See picture: tell me if I'm the only one who thinks this is bad.
Feedback: After I thought I'd mention it to the staff and let them know about my experience so they can improve with my polite, hosnest feedback, didn't realise I was going to be faced with a chef thats argumentative and in denial. He told me the oil was new and the potatoes are new, like I was expecting old potatoes??? What you on about? The food is right in front of you, can you not see how bad this is?
If this was their best then I hate to see their worst is. Had to Google their food hygiene as the place looked icky and saw a rating of 3, they barely made the cut... 😲 explains alot I should have checked this first before eating...
Read moreI recently had the opportunity to dine at Mother Hubbard's Fish and Chips, located just outside of Oldham town, and wanted to share my experience. One of the highlights of this establishment is the quality of their fish and chips. The fish had a crispy and flavorful battered coating, and the portions were generous. I found the fish to be meaty and delicious, making for a satisfying meal.
In addition to the fish and chips, I also tried the sausage, and I must say it was excellent. The sausages were flavorful and added a nice variation to the menu. It's worth giving them a try if you're looking for something different.
Inside the restaurant, there was plenty of seating available, which was a relief as I visited during a busy period. The staff members were polite and pleasant, providing good service throughout my visit.
While I enjoyed my meal, one aspect that could be improved is the menu board. It seemed a bit outdated compared to other similar fish and chip shops I've been to. It would be great to see more set meal options offered, such as a combination of fish, chips, sides, and a drink. This would make ordering more convenient and provide more choices for customers.
To sum it up, my personal experience at Mother Hubbard's Fish and Chips was positive. The fish and chips were of good quality, the sausage option was excellent, and the staff members were friendly. Although there are areas for improvement, such as updating the menu and adding a set meal option, I would recommend giving this place a try if you're in the area and craving some classic...
Read moreIt was mid afternoon And my belly was empty. I decided that I Should eat fish chips aplenty.
So Uppermill, I thought Is the place I should be. But, oh no, oh no, It was now 10 past 3.
So I picked up my car keys And got on my way. There was still some time left On this bright, sunny day To get to a chip shop To fill up my belly. It’s far better than sitting And watching the telly.
Betty’s Chip Shop is shut, I will have to drive far. To Oldham I’ll go By way of my car.
So I drove down the road With the wind in my hair And I saw Mother Hubbard’s And thought ‘Yes, I’ll go there!’
I entered the shop with a skip and a hop And ordered some chips And some fish and some pop. Rubicon Mango I drank Whilst I munched through my food. The waitress was lovely, Not the slightest bit rude.
If I have a complaint I would say it’s the fish. I did not like the fish No, no, no, not that dish.
For I threw up quite violent From the food served that day. I did not like that food On that warm summers day.
For it gave me the sh*ts And the squits And the squirts. Oh god, I had nothing But anal desserts! As I wretched up my belly Oh god was it sore, For the fish had gone bad, There was vomit galore.
So I ran out the door With a vomitous flair. That place, Mother Hubbard’s, Do not even dare To go into the building Or even close by For if you eat there You’ll most...
