Further update Mike the General Manger has now made contact, and he has generously offered a main meal for two on the house. I won't be taking up him on his offer, he has also assured me that the relevant training has been given to the staff concerned.
Update, the general manager asked me to make contact via email, I did this and suprise suprise a week later I have had no response !!! Shameful really !
Firstly the front of house staff are super friendly and attentive without being overly so. Drinks Service from ordering via app was spot on and we got what we ordered exactly. The food service came out some 20 mins later considering that we had arrived at around 5.45pm was about right. My wife had ordered the Steak and Ale Pie which for us when we eat in a Greene King pub is our go to dish as it's always really nice and tasty. And according to my wife it was good. However I fancied a burger and ordered one from the Stack menu, I really should have gone with the Pie ! This burger was a huge disappointment and a total waste of money, now I am a type 1 Diabetic and I had already given myself my two Insulin shots that I take in the evening and as this was a Carb loaded meal I had given myself extra rapid acting insulin to cover off this meal. So I had to eat what I could and wow it was bad stone cold and partly cooked onion rings over cooked and dry and completely tasteless Beef Patties and chips that looked like they had been scraped from the bottom of the fryer. As I said I ate what I could as I had too. However I left a decent amount on the plate, and when our server returned she asked if everything was ok, no was my reply I explained all of the above, and the response to this was oh I am really sorry would you like a drink on the house ?? No was my reply, at no point did she offer to put right my woeful food and took my plate away. Now to be fair when she came back to take my wife's thoroughly enjoyed Pie plate away, she did apologize again, however again at no point did she offer to make right my half left meal. So will we visit a Greene King again ? Yes because we will stick to what we know, would we revisit this particular Greene King pub...... It's a resounding no from me, shame really as...
Read moreChose to visit this pub for a meal as it looked lovely and was dog friendly. On arrival there were plenty of parking spaces in the free car parks which are at the front and side of the building. There's quite a few steps up to the main doors and then a few again just inside up to the bar. But this pub apparently has disabled access but I personally didn't see where If you wanted to sit outside there's lots of seating and at night the warm lighting makes it look really inviting. Some outdoor seating at the side are undercover which is great for those typical British rainy days, they're also wheelchair accessible. Inside there's an area for those with dogs but I was more than happy with my table as it was near the bar. It's a good big pub with lots of seating throughout. I really liked the layout and decor it was big yet felt cozy. There's a pool table, dartboard, tvs for the footy and a couple of fruits machines too. Everything you need to help make a great pub. When it came to ordering food and drink this is where my compliments aren't as complimentary unfortunately. I ordered a pint of lager and a lime & soda which came to £6.90! My glass of soda was only 2/3rds full because I asked for no ice so I wasn't impressed about that. The food menu has a good selection of starters mains and desserts and charges the kind of prices most pubs these days charge but there wasn't a good selection of Vegetarian mains options so I had to get three little starters unfortunately. As for ordering, you can either order from your table via an app or at the bar. I opted to go to the bar but I wasn't happy at being asked if I wanted my change! I also wasn't too thrilled when the waitress came to clear the table and informed us for no particular reason that she didn't like dogs! Charming lol! Overall I would definitely recommend a visit as I really liked the pub itself, I'll definitely go again for a drink if I'm in the area (hopefully I'll get a full glass...
Read moreThe pub itself is beautiful. Situated in a perfect location - just on the main road, with its own car park. The staff are friendly, but totally overworked. We went on a weekday at lunchtime, on a beautiful sunny day. You'd have thought there would be more staff on than just the 2. Between them they had to manage the bar and waiting on tables. Naturally, as a result, the wait on food was over 30 minutes, despite only having around 10 tables seated at the time. When we ordered food, we were told that I couldn't have the dish I wanted as they only serve one of those per day, and someone else had just ordered it. So we took another look at the menu and my partner decided on a steak, and I thought I'd try a mixed chicken platter - I could have onion rings! (I love those). Come to order this at the bar, I was told that they had onion rings, but they were saving them for the people wanting to order burgers. So, now frustrated, I changed my order to pie and mash. At least they can't mess that up, right?
Food finally comes after around 50 minutes of being in the restaurant. Looks amazing. Then I put my fork in the mash and half of it comes away in one big clump. Clearly microwaved. The pie was SO salty I'd almost forgotten I'd ordered a steak one and not something out of the sea. The peas were nice - at least I can't complain about everything. My partners sirloin steak - about a quarter of it was pure fat. It was also ordered medium rare but came so rare I thought it was going to start making noise and eating his peas. Overall, for 2 drinks and a meal each, the £40 price tag was still way too expensive. It's such a shame because it's a nice little place that could be a perfect...
