11th June 2017. ordered off the lunchtime menu. Big mistake.
I had rated this pub as 4 stars based on my many visits over many years but my recent visit has caused me to reduce my rating to 3 stars...
Not sure where to start. Soup luke warm and the fish and chips were an embarrassment. The chips were anaemic and the fish was cooked from frozen out of a cheap well known branded box in bread crumbs not batter. Before reading the following please note I never asked for a refund and told the staff the same and yes I ate the food because after walking 6 miles I was bloody hungry.
When i told the waitress I was disappointed with the food she told me the lunchtime menu served cheaper food to cater for the pensioner trade where as I thought the standard of food would have been the same regardless but the proportions smaller.
Perhaos the inferior lunchtime menu should state the food is of a lesser quality than the main menu.
If you want 1980's Bernie Inn food at 2017 prices then eat off the lunchtime menu..
All my previous meals at the Puckersley have been good but this is the first and last time I ate off the lunchtime menu.
Can't blame the chef as he cooks what hes told to cook. So who to blame management or the brewery??
Kids has the Sunday roast and to be fair it was good but my food was terrible.
great traditional pub with good staff and food. you can call in for just a drink or suggest booking if eating. great views from the beer garden over rural farm land. 5th Feb 2016 called in for a swift pint. A warm welcome...
Read moreWe had a girlie get together and we ate at the Puckersley after a recommendation. We booked the table for 7.30 and was shown to our table straight away. The young lady seemed as though she'd had a bad day and wasn't very customer friendly. Another waitress came and took our drinks order which we we waited over 30 mins for. She then came took our food order. It was almost an hour before we received our food. Everyone enjoyed what they'd ordered however it looked like it had been under the "heat lights" for some time. My steak was dry and the small ramekin of veg which consisted of three small sprigs of tender broccoli and three batons of carrot, was wilted. Overpriced veg at that. By the time we had reached the point to order desserts, only a few things were left. Overall not one of the best dining experiences but not the worse either. The Puckersley would be a great little place if the staffed smiled more, and the food was...
Read moreI enjoy the food at the Puckersley, its nice. But what bugs me more than anything is when i ask for a glass of coke and get a pint and get charged £2.80 for double what i asked for, i was unable to finish the drink so a waste. I decided to have the roast dinner, so i asked if i could have some mashed potato with that, i didnt think this would be an issue as they do dishes with mash. I was told it would cost me extra, i said ok. Unable to check cost of this as menu had gone. meal arrived with a nice amount of mash, just enough. The waitress then brought out the vegetable and a dish full of mashed potato. How the bloody hell i was expected to eat that along with everything else on my plate. So i took a small amount off the top leaving virtually a full bowl. We got the menu and they charged me £3.50 for mashed potato, absolute robbery. I could have bought 2 whole bags of...
