The Millgate Pub — Restaurant in Oldham

Visited the pub today, have been in many times before but not dining that much. We both ordered the fish and chips, small size.. The large one was £2 more expensive and we had it before about 7 months ago and it was big so decided on the smaller portion. When it arrived I was shocked it looked like a scrap of fish, really small, over cooked and very crispy, darkish brown. Chips weren't the best either, mixture of cooked, slightly hard and the peas lukewarm. When the lady came to collect our plates she asked how it was.. Told her (not to get a refund) but to make sure no one else gets this insult on a plate. Appreciate the price of fish has risen and many other costs as well but please do better. The pub was extremely busy due to a party so the thought of sending the food back was considered but we didn't want to wait ages to get a fresh...

I've been going in this pub for 20 years, but that didn't stand for nothing when i was short changed by the bar staff. Whilst i didnt move away from the bar on realising this, they wouldnt open the till to check the last notes and said it needed a till check and to wait. I waited and waited, then had to go back to the bar to be given no apology but to be told that the till was up but not the full amount i was short changed and they needed a camera check and they would phone me.

When at home, i phoned them back to find out the result of this check, which hadn't been done and was told to collect the money anyway.

Word of warning, check your change and tell the bar staff not to close the till before you have. Otherwise you might have a nightmare getting what is rightfully yours...

Was at a christening in the function room, the room was fabulous as was the food and atmosphere. Unfortunately this was spoilt by a very rude young lady with long dark hair behind the bar, when I was served by her. She slammed my drink down on the bar with force that it spilled down the glass and glared at me. I have no idea why as I had never been to your bar before, nor will I be returning as this was repeated after my wife placed a further order later on. She placed the coffee on the bar with force again, laughed and pointed to the other young lady behind the bar, who, after 10 minutes brought the coffee and then took it away as there was so much coffee in the saucer.
