Had the squid and chips. The kids size chips were generous, like a normal portion. The squid was good but it tasted like calamari (they are in the same family but they have distinct differences that I couldn’t identify in here). Also had tempura mushrooms and samphire but the batter was very chewy and that affected the experience. Probably if I had them freshly cooked they would taste better but probably they were sat there for a while. The chips were ok.

We tried Chesil Chippie for the 1st time yesterday, it was what my son wanted at the occasion of his birthday. Mostly we all had the lighter option fish & chips and it was very nice, the batter was lightly seasoned and not greasy, just lovely. There was a big chunk of lemon to accompany the fish and the portion was still too big for me. We ate it on the Chesil beach and watched the sunset... Great food in a gorgeous place :)

Very yummy food, had pre ordered and paid well in advance as we knew we wanted to go here so there was a very short wait for the food despite the constant line out of the shop. I had the vegan fish and ship and battered sausage and my partner had meat/fish version. Also had curry and tartar sauce! All was very good for both of us. 100% worth the money (also had pineapple fritter).

I first came to The Chesil Chippie when it first opened only a couple of years ago. I thought the food that day was okay but nothing special with the fish being quite small and chips a bit soggy i didnt not head back in a rush. HOWEVER, i recently returned with my partner as we moved into the area and i have to say, the standards have risen dramatically (I'm unsure of if it is the same owners or not) i had a large piece of "Hake with samphire) which was fantastically cooked and greeted by a good side portion of thick beautifully cooked chips and all at what i considered to be a very reasonable price.

The shop itself is very clean and the service from the solo staff member working was very good.

Very impressed and i will certainly be coming here on a more regular basis. I would recommend anybody who has not been here to give it a go and i hope the experience is as...

Chesil Chippie! Wow! We had to visit after seeing some great reviews and some word of mouth conversations. They have some great options for gluten free and vegan customers. We went for both, gluten free batter and the vegan calamari. We've never had gluten free batter like this before, normally the batter goes soggy after being in a box for a while but after 10 minute car ride back to our accommodation and it was just as crisp! The vegan calamari was ok it was just little bit chewy. But the star of the show, the curry sauce, it really was the best accompaniment to a very good fish and chips! If you're vegan or fancy something other than fish, the pea fritter is a great alternative, full of mint and chunky pea puree what more...
