Saw all the great reviews but we went on a very cold day. I was with my disabled father and two dogs. The ramp access to the resturant is blocked with a table. Staff moved the table for dad to get up the ramp. I had to move it to let him back out. As it was so very cold we asked if the dogs could sit with us inside. No harm in asking if they said no. No problem i would sit out side and my elderly father could sit inside have a breakfast and a coffee and warm up. Really no problem, but dont ask dont get, right? We were told by the waiter/ waitress ok no problem. I went inside with the dogs, they are well behaved. I looked up and caught the eye of an older lady behind the counter. I have never in my left been subjected to such and unfriendly scowl. In that instant i knew i was not welcome with the dogs. I got up and sat out side. My low rating for atmosphere is based on that scowl. If you didnt want the dogs inside i have no problem with that (it is what it is 🤷‍♀️) but dont say yes then make me feel unwelcome, thats not...

Would of rated 0 if possible. The manager was incredible rude. We asked for a table of 6, which there wasn’t any available - no problem, so we asked if we could book a table for the next convenient time, we were going to have a walk and come back for the time we could book for. The manager said we weren’t able to do that as it would be ‘problematic’. He was so rude, we had no idea why we weren’t able to book a table for a later time as there were lots of tables with ‘reserved’ on them, so they obviously took bookings. Seems like maybe he wasn’t keen that we had a dog, but I emailed ahead of time and it said you were allowed dogs outside. Overall, horrible service. We walked a little further to Taylor’s Mess Deck Café, which was much cheaper, looking over Portland harbour and the service was exceptional. Glad we were turned away from...

Ridiculously slow. The first time round we ordered the english breakfast which took 45/50 mins. Their excuse was ‘our kitchen is so small’. I went again the second time I visited Portland as it was the only option available for breakfast but thought I’d only order a sausage and bacon sandwich thinking it shouldn’t take as long. Once again the wait was 45/50 mins long, on top of a 15/20 min wait to be served. All I heard was ‘our kitchen is so small’. This isn’t an excuse. They just have too many tables in ratio to their kitchen and are happy enough to have people wait almost and an hour for a sandwich. Not even a ‘sorry for the wait’. The place wasn’t even busy. They also don’t do takeaway which is silly. Don’t go here if you have plans that day as you’ll spend most of it sitting...

We found this lovely place whilst on holiday. There was a small parking area near the road which was free! And then we had a short walk along the sea front to get there. The staff were lovely and so was the food. It was a coolish day but we opted to eat outside as the view was beautiful. We were offered cushions for the chairs and even a blanket for my knees. To me that was a really lovely touch. I would definitely recommend.

Popped in for lunch. You grab a table and then give your order in the Cafe. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. The food is delivered to your table and was very good. The setting is of course superb being a the beginning of Chesil beach. There are a few seats available inside but most seating is outside along with a few tables on the roof terrace. I would definitely eat here again.

Today in mid September is an uncommonly warm laid back beautiful day to lounge outdoors (chairs/yum food/facilities provided by Quiddles, thank you Q) looking out to sea off Chesil Cove, cupped snuggly in hands, a Quiddles' latte. On the beach below, the sea makes contented rhythmic lapping over the pebbles it can reach, as one sails to one's ideal island of dreams. . .
