The Marina Bar — Restaurant in Portsmouth

If you want a relaxed atmosphere with no frills, basic and rustic food without all the pretentious service of gastro pubs, this was great!

As the british pub gets decimated and turned into gastro pubs everywhere, there are rarely many with good atmospheres left. This makes no pretence at being anything other than a marina bar. It serves simple rustic food and fish because it's near the sea. I had a pizza which was very nice and i know you can get lots of types of beer and alcohol. I went on the hottest day of the year and sat outside looking over the marina! Lovely site. Lovely sea smells too. The atmosphere was friendly with a mix of people there - dockyard workers, local couples and people who owned boats. The servers and bar staff were friendly, warm and down to earth without all the pretentions of gastro pub servers! I would definitely recommend walking along the esplanade to this place after a day on...

Had a lovely evening at The Marina last night. The staff were super friendly, the whole place was spotlessly clean and the food was absolutely delicious. We both chose the chicken wrapped in Parma ham from the Specials board and it was absolutely delicious. Being a weekday night it wasn’t very busy but the ‘locals’ were a friendly bunch. The view over the marina is tranquil and the sunset was gorgeous. I’ve only had coffee here before but I will definitely be back to sample more food - and definitely the apple crumble which we just didn’t have room for ! A lovely experience in a welcoming and ‘homely’ environment....

Have been to the Marina Bar on many occasions, it's one of my favourite local venues for a light lunch and sitting in the sunshine overlooking the marina, usually after a dog walk. Today we had breakfast for the first time as friends had recommended it. We weren't disappointed the English breakfast was excellent. Freshly prepared and brilliant produce. The service is always friendly and the prices reasonable. The menu with specials caters for all tastes and there's always a fab selection of home made cakes. I can't recommend the Marina Bar...
