Experienced the last 2 games of Euro 2020 at The Black Bull, Garstang Road. Decent vibes. Frequented by regulars, probably inhabitants of Fulwood, who know the servers by their first name. The bar food was not exceptional. Our feast included home fried nachos (very flavourful and fresh, recommended), calamari salt & pepper, onion rings, fish & chips, chicken & pork ribs with Korean styled bbq sauce (which was a little dry), tasty succulent chicken wings in Nashville style hot sauce & Hunters chicken (I agree, BBQ flavour overload on our table) The sweet potato fries should not be missed whereas the treacle sponge pudding can be skipped. 2 cocktails for £8 is a good deal. Good spirit & beer selection. For us, the biggest plus point is the convenience & proximity of the pub to our residence. Ordering and paying on the app makes life easier. Very prompt service and friendly, polite staff. Warm ambience. Good indoor & outdoor seating arrangement. Will we visit The Black Bull pub again? Yes, of course!

I have been ordering food from this place at least 2 or 3 times a week and never had any problem. There's been times when staff called and informed me of certain items being out of stock or certain items had been discontinued and I truly appreciated it. Food is always amazing. However tonight, received these steaks burnt and I order mine medium rare. I'm extremely disappointed. Why would you send these out? Why?? Dear Louise I'd like to thank you for taking the time to read and reply to my review. I appreciate you passing the feedback to the kitchen and I'm super happy my favourite place in Preston is back. Simply wonderful.

Nice and cozy pub. Good place to visit with family or Your mates. Regarding the food I would stick to Fish and chips.. we order sea bass with new potatoes but was slightly disappointing. Beers and drinks reasonably priced but food it's bit expensive and You can easily find better and cheaper places to eat in Preston. Parking spaces outside the pub are tight and when U parked then U will have few inches to someone's car door. I wouldn't park anything expensive here haha :)

Visited for Sunday lunch. 5 in our party. Took the bar tender at least 15 mins to get our order on the till as it “kept deleting”. An hour after waiting for our food I asked the bar staff how long it’d be before our food came, he said “I’ll check and let you know”. Another five mins later another staff member comes over and says “we’re plating your food up now but just to let you know we don’t have beef roast left”. How was they then plating our food up that they didn’t have?. Another 10/20 mins later our three of our mains come out. I asked where the starters were. They kitchen staff member said “I thought you wanted it all at the same time. We didn’t. Even if we did the starter and the remainder of the mains came 5 mins later. We ended up eating what we had been given turkey roasts despite no consultation of it. We were promised a refund of the difference on what we had actually ordered. Sat here still waiting for this refund, which has given me all this time to write this review. Still have to wait on our desserts.

Table next to us has been waiting 90 mins so far for their two meals so they’re so far worse off. Table on other side of us have missed their showing at the cinema waiting on their food. Absolutely unbelievable and embarrassing, no service, no pride, they’ve fallen at every hurdle. All veg on roast out of a tin, absolutely vile. This place for having such a great outside space is a waste. This was Sunday service and the place wasn’t at all busy. I spoke to the manager who said the kitchen staff had gone home and so there was only one chef. The answer to that then is stop selling mediocre food to paying guests. The manager apologised and said “if you’ve been here before you know our service is better than this”.

We have been here before he was right but the staff start reloading full fridges before serving, don’t communicate with each other and genuinely just don’t care at all. Bar staff appalling, kitchen staff appalling, management appalling. You can’t give less than one star. Still no desserts but had a partial refund of £25 for our £50 bill. Grateful For that but after desserts we won’t be returning. A building which is such a local landmark in Preston is falling so short and Preston is in dire need for a decent family pub

Maybe 30mins has past now since the above. We send our 8 year old to ask for our desserts and waited another twenty mins before someone came back out and asked “are you still waiting on your desserts” maybe 10 mins later the manager comes and tells us that two of the desserts they can’t serve to use but three they can. We took the three they could and a refund for the others. We should have and could have left them but we’ve been sat here 4 hours in total so far it was actually just a joke between our party members to see it out until the end.

I honestly don’t know how much time your allowed on the car park but if I get a ticket due to our time lapsing waiting on the service I will be giving it to the management of the black...

Never been her ex before went on a Monday night.we decided to go for the 3 course meal . 2 wanted steak one gammon but there were no steaks available so not a good start . Young lady at the till was apologetic and helpful. mushrooms were far better than I expected very crisp batter and tasted fresh. Tomatoe and basil soup was also very good. Main courses were fine nice touch with fresh not tinned pineapple on the gammon. Naan bread was soft and light . Chips were a let down compared to the standard of the rest of the food. Plain frozen oven chips . But u couldn't eat them as I was getting full The vegan cheesecake was extremely good and the ice cream with the apple pie was excellent. I had the Belgian waffles. The portion was huge waffles nice and crunchy the compote very flavoursome but only 1 cut up strawberry . I had to take 1 of the waffles home for my grandson as I couldn't finish it all. But for less than £15 per person you couldn't complain . We will be visiting again. Wish that some of the pre 5pm menus were available on the post one as they had some good choices We did sit inside but will try their outside wooden huts next time they really did look cosy and personal. Nice background music playing not loud so you had to shout to hear each other and no sport on the TV. A...

We entered an overcrowded pub with only three staff members working at the busy bar. After waiting for approximately 10 minutes, a staff member finally approached us. We informed them that we had reserved a table 12 hours prior, but they claimed we weren't registered and initially couldn't accommodate us. However, after some discussion, a table became available in the bar area where we intended to dine.

Unfortunately, the table was dirty. The manager promised to send someone to clean it and provide additional menus, but nobody came. After informing the manager of the issue, she wiped down the table with a dry cloth and gave us a few more menus.

The QR code on the table didn't work, so we couldn't order online. After waiting for a long time at the bar, we eventually ordered our dinner. One of our party members required a gluten-free option, but the choices were limited, leaving them disappointed.

Despite being informed by the manager that there was no wait for food, we waited approximately an hour for our meals, only to find them served cold. The gammon was tough and overcooked.

While we acknowledge that the pub may have been busy due to a previous football match, our experience at the Black Bull was disappointing. We are unlikely to return...
