This place is the undisputed champion of Merstham!!! After and exhilarating walk. We stopped off for an early dinner treat. Our lovely waitress Beth, who is a massive asset to the company, served us with a calm, kind and knowledgeable attitude. Given that we had one coffee connoisseur and an Italian 🇮🇹 specialist in tow. My coffee a perfectly blended flat white was delicious and well rounded. The pizza bits were truly tasty, the sharing platter was balanced and flavourful and the salads were light and refreshing. The tiramisu was a little dense and could have done with the usual coffee liqueur, but the lemon cheesecake had depth a nice lemony tang all the way through. CELIAC SUFFERS BEWARE! I choose this restaurant for their impressive gluten free range. We order a gluten free pizza, its a small place so I heard the order go to the chef correctly.

An hour after eating the familiar stomach ache I get when I eat gluten began and progressively got worse. I suffered the ill affected for the next 24 hours.

Due to the strength of my reaction, and hearing the chef get my order, I believe I was knowingly served a wheat based pizza, but I can not rule out that the gluten free pizza was contaminated during prep or cooking. Stumbled into Pizza Project at Merstham as I was new to town and was a bit lost. Johnny and James were super kind, friendly and helpful with getting me to a wedding that I was nearly late for. Their tea was also very tasty and just what I needed on a cold windy day. Didn’t get to taste their food but I am sure they’re great. My main point is please support small local business like Pizza Project, especially when they are owned and managed by very kind hearted people.
