I have sat on this review for a little over 12 months before posting. I have done this for a couple of reasons, no. 1. We have previously had very pleasant evenings here, and no. 2. I wanted to give the restaurant an opportunity to recognise my complaint in a less public way, so I sent them an email on 30/07/2018. However, as the restaurant has firstly failed to acknowledge my email, and secondly failed to offer an apology I have now decided to go public.

Over the past 12 months I have told many people of the treatment we received that evening and we have not returned.

On 30th July 2018 after a long day at work and collecting the children from summer club we drove up to the Shajan for some dinner. I was wearing a joules tee-shirt and chino style pants with sandals, my husband general office attire and the children 'just as they come'. I believe this to be the explanation as to why we was treated the way we were.

Time getting on and the children only 4 and 6, we decided it was better for the children just to order mains so decided not to have any starters. When we advised the waiter that we did not want any starters he remarked, “no I didn’t think so”.

When mains arrived I requested another drink, the waiter left and never came back.

The table to the side of us had their mains arrive and they was all offered another drink, without the need for them to ask, these drinks arrived and I was still waiting on mine.

We finished dinner and the children wanted desert, and my husband and myself a coffee. We asked for the menu.

The table opposite were given the desert menu after us. The waiter returned to them and asked if he could get them something, they ordered and he walked away without asking us.

So, I have not received my drink, nor were we offered any more drinks, and the waiter has failed to wait on us for desserts and coffees. Meanwhile, all the tables around us are being waited on.

At this point we had had enough so we paid and left. At the point of paying the waiter on reception asked if everything was nice and I informed him that “NO” it was not nice, and that I was actually very upset, all he said was “oh” and took my money.

It is absolutely disgraceful. We supported this business when there was accusations surrounding a dead mouse being served in a dish, we returned time and time again and this is how they treated their loyal customers. Absolutely disgusting and...

Visited here last night. Before we even sat down sat we were asked what drinks we wanted. We hadn’t even looked at the menu. We ordered 6 poppadoms and chutney tray to start which cost £8.90 roughly give or take a couple of pence. We then ordered two mixed starters which were ok. Onion Bhaji, samosa, Shish kebab, chicken pakora. For mains we ordered South Indian curry which, was ok but the green colour put me off and had a taste I can’t put my finger on. Butter chicken which tasted like tomato soup made with ghee. Chicken madras which, was just hot no taste but very tomatoey. Chicken koma which was very runny and late coming out. Two chicken tikika from the grill. The chicken was rather dry. The chips looked like they’d been cooked once, gone cold then re-heated. All I can say is it was very disappointing. The room is very noisy as it was very busy. Not for us as we prefer a relaxing meal, not rushed and to taste good. My husband suffered all night with a churning stomach after arriving home. I’ve read some of the other reviews I cannot say the staff were friendly as it was so rushed and half the time whilst in the mist of removing plates they’d start talking to other waiter even whispering to the young bar waiter which, I thought was totally rude. But we all have our standards and last night this restaurant did not...

Food was good but service was awful. We had barely begun to sit down at our table while the waiter hovered around us asking what we want to drink. We hadn't even sat down let alone looked at the menu! They didn't even give us a drinks menu so how are we supposed to know what drinks to get. When we asked for the wine list, as soon as he gave it to us he waited impatiently with his notebook without giving us any time to even have a look through. Also we hadn't finished our starters and they started taking our plates away. They didn't even ask if we had finished. How rude!! When we ordered desserts we went for the pistachio kulfi but we got served the mango one since it was orange. We asked if they had given the pistachio one and they said yes. How stupid, the pistachio one should have been green! They did in the end realise and gave us a complementary one afterwards. I don't think we will be coming again after the lack of service. We felt rushed which is not how a customer should feel. The waiters were rude impolite and unwelcoming. And it wasn't just our table they did this too, I saw when other people came in they treated them in the...

Disappointed. This was our first visit here with friends, who come regularly. They even asked at the end of the meal was it a new chef as they order the same dish every time and this time they were not the same. The service and atmosphere is very good, but the food left a lot to be desired. I had the mixed starter it came out cold the seek kebab was like rubber and the Samosa was just soaked in oil and grease. The main courses came my wife ordered the half tandoori chicken with a sauce (£18) it came out with 2 legs, the waiter asked how the food was. I explained we did not get half a chicken, but 2 legs he apologised and asked if I wanted a breast to take home. Our friends main dish was very watery and they gave them the same dish to take home. I then went to pay, I again explained that the main course was not way I ordered and showed him the picture. He basically said well you wife ate it. Not good attitude. So unfortunately will not be going again. We may have just been unlucky, but at £130 we will not be taking the chance again.

Went here on Mothering Sunday with family. We had pre-booked a table, thankfully! The restaurant was full. I have never been to a restaurant so busy! Plenty of staff on duty. We were seated within 10 minutes of arrival. Orders swiftly taken and before we knew it, starters had arrived. All freshly cooked! These and main course were amazing. Very tasty and authentically made. There was no delay with our meals, despite the entire restaurant being fully booked and people waiting. This restaurant is very well organised, efficient and with friendly staff. There was nothing to fault and is possibly the best Indian restaurant I have ever eaten in! For the quality, the prices are reasonable in my opinion. I will definitely be going again, although would like to try it when it is not so busy. I am already recommending this place to family and friends alike. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED....!

The Cobra was flat and too warm, the Kingfisher was slightly cooler but didn't taste great. I could not begin to list the shortcomings of the staff otherwise I would be typing all day. The ingredients in the majority of the dishes that we sampled were poor. Some items are misrepresented on the menu. We were truly amazed by how busy this restaurant was, can only be due to lack of choice in the area. The only reason for two stars instead of one is because the man in charge finally made an apology and then a gesture to our bill. Would not recommend or return.
