Five of us went for Mothers Day. It wasn't really busy considering the day. We were seated and I informed the waitress we were waiting for two more people. We weren't asked if we would like a drink and we weren't told that a waitress wouldn't be taking our order and we would either have to order it at the bar or via the app. We found this out after waiting over 20 minutes for someone to come to us. We had to attract their attention and then we ordered. Three meals took about 40 mins to come to the table. We had finished eating before the other two came out. Just before we'd finished our three meals, a member of staff came over and apologised for the delay. When we asked why there was a delay. We were informed the chicken hadn't been prepared. The chicken meal was from the " Sunday lunch" menu. The other was from the " vegetarian Sunday lunch" menu. The roast potatoes and parsnips were dried out as though they had been there for hours. We asked to speak to the manager and actually had to ask the waitress again if we could speak to them. The manager was very understanding, she apologised that the two meals had " been forgotten " , which isn't what we were originally informed. She also agreed the food served was not of acceptable standard. The cost of the two meals was deducted from the bill. It was an extremely disappointing meal for us all, especially as it was for Mothers Day. I have to say we chose The Wilton as we have been there not too long ago and it was throughly enjoyable, but unfortunately we will not be returning...
Read moreI've visited the Wilton many, many times whilst it was a 'Sizzler' resaurant. This is my first review since it changed hands and has become Mangiamo @ The Wilton Arms Hotel. The menu has vastly changed and is now mostly Italian inspired with a decent selection. There is still a (much smaller) choice of pub classics and non Italian choices too. The venue is very clean and the decor pleasing. There is plenty of parking (free if you register your number plate details at the bar. The staff are lovely (special thanks to Ash who was efficient, helpful and friendly) The majority of our order was very fresh and tasty : 4 cheese ravioli, chicken/mushroom pie and steak pie all great. My only negative comment would be regarding the 'Mature Cheddar and Mozzarella Toasted sandwich' which was very dissapointing when it arrived. Made with regular sliced bread, which was barely toasted, lacking in filling and was presented on the plate with just a pot of chips and nothing more. Presentation and content were very poor for a sandwich that costs £10.00 - Nothing like the description on the menu. It should be improved, removed or better described and reduced in price. With that exception, I have to finish on a positive and to be fair, our visit was a good one and I would certainly return. For Great staff in a nice setting that's very clean and tidy with good parking and fresh tasty food - its 5 stars...... sort the sandwich out and my next review will...
Read moreStopped at this venue last night as it looks very impressive from outside. My wife ordered the crispy chilly beef strips, they were just strips of over cooked batter, Both our meals arrived with a long over cooked hard none edible prawn cracker on top. the oil in the fryers needs changing as the chips also did not taste good. At one point the restraunt area filled with a toxic blue smoke that hand every body coughing a few people complained as well as myself, the waiter blamed a table of regulars for insisted on having meals that should be presented on a normal plates, instead being brought to the table on the sizzler plates. The waiter also mentioned that many people had complained about the food, he had passed the complaints onto head office and they didn't care or change anything. I told him about all of the above he just said sorry you didn't have a good meal, hope to see you again, I said no way its been terrible. As we were leaving the entrance to the pub was blocked by two arrogant regulars smoking inside the door way to the pub. (is this pub not aware that smoking is not permitted inside public buildings) we would not recommend this pub to anybody. customer service is does not exist. we should have realised when we walked in, the pub only had a few customers for a...
