Grew up in Milnrow. And previously lived in the area for 35 years. Visited this evening for a meal (for the first time since pre-lockdown) with my partner and son. Salt and pepper squid was cooked perfectly. Well seasoned (bit mild heat wise for my own personal taste). Also couldn't taste wasabi in the mayonnaise? But really enjoyable. Mrs has the veg soup of the day what was lovely. Mains I had the brisket, lovely piece of tender brisket with a nice sear on the outside. Delicious mash and gravy which was seasoned really well Son had the lamb shank. Which again was cooked perfectly. Mrs had the gallows burger which she really enjoyed. Also the chips were lovely and crisp outside. Fluffy on the inside.... Are they really prepared in house though?
The doggo was friendly as well. Had a sniff of our baby in her seat. And sat wagging its tail at us before moving on.
Best food I've ever had from the Gallows by far. And very fairly priced! Will definitely visit again when I'm back in my old...
Read moreIt was very disappointing there was 4 of us eating and the only thing we all actually liked was the starters which was 3 pate and 1 broccoli and Stilton soup the Sunday roasts was appalling 2 had roast beef and 1 had Ham and there was actually only one thing on the plate that was nice and that was the mashed carrots my Aunty had cheese and onion pie chips and peas the pie was in the shape of a small brick and it had been over cooked the pastry was rock solid the filling was dry the chips was frozen and there was half a plate of garden peas the deserts we had was 1 sticky toffee pudding with custard and he said that was nice 2 had Eaton mess which was extremely sickening with a mound of synthetic cream and very little else and the last one was strawberry cheesecake which had a soggy base and only what we can describe as a pink gelatin on top which was horrible I am so very sorry to have to leave this review but just feel the need to let people know about...
Read moreThis is the second time we’ve eaten at The Gallows on Wednesday evening. It’s better for my friend and I as we both work a lot of weekends. As it was the last time, the food was outstanding. Really tasty and well made with fresh ingredients. The wine list had a good selection and we really enjoyed the wine we chose. Unfortunately, towards the end of our evening, we were made to feel very unwelcome. By 9:20pm the staff had turned most of the lights off, including the toilets and locked one of the doors. One of them even stood on a chair right next to my friend and pulled the blind down behind her. We spent £80 in total including a tip but were practically shoved out the door at 9:30 as the staff were stood at the bar with their coats and bags on. The website clearly states it’s open until 11pm. This happened last time we went as well although not to this extent so unfortunately we won’t...
