Long review: so quick summary - do not go to this 'family friendly pub' as they are not at all family friendly.
Myself and a friend went out for some food this afternoon with our two little boys, aged 15 months and 23 months. We were waiting 45 minutes before our order was taken by the server. Our boys at this point, wanted to go down and play as they were sat so well and it was a very long time and their patience was starting to wear thin. Both our boys took out some cars which they were playing with next to our table. A woman who worked there then had a go at my friend telling her her little boy needed shoes on as there might have been glass on the floor. My friend put some shoes on her little boy and accepted that he needed shoes on but how she was spoken to was bang out of order.
The food then came and our boys sat opposite each other babbling away and talking to each other. They weren't overly loud and we're just acting like toddlers do when they're happy and content.
Once we were done eating, the same woman then came over to us and had a go at us because one of our boys had left a car on the floor. She didn't speak to us in a respectful manner, but instead belittled us yet again and had a go at us like we were children.
We then went to pay but wanted to avoid any confrontation with this woman and instead report what we had experienced to the male member of staff working there. He had a mustache but we didn't catch his name, which now I've learnt is Matt and he is the manager. We explained the situation and he then told us that this was his partner we were complaining about and that our children were a disgrace. He told us that our children were loud and disgusting and that he had people leave the pub due to our children which was not true. We actually had several people come and speak to us about how well behaved our toddlers were. He then carried on having a go at us, calling us bad mums and that our children are a disgrace. He then told us that we are barred from Spring Inn and can never step foot in the pub again.
We then spoke to a family outside who said that our children were a delight and they loved watching them interact with each other.
We paid our bill and left but I am just mortified that this has happened to myself and my friend. I would never recommend this pub and the fact that they have a sign outside their pub saying family friendly is such a lie. They clearly despise children and don't like them in their establishment. We also asked them if they had children which they responded with yes, which we also learnt was another lie. Why lie about having children? Please do not go here especially if you have young children as the manager and his girlfriend/wife clearly do not like young people.
Edit: Replying to the response from the establishment. This is complete lies and at this point, I want to request that the CCTV footage is shown to the two owners of this pub. We did not once shout or raise our voices. They did not request that we move the toys several times, only once which we did straight away and this was only because we didn't realise there was a single hotwheels car on the floor. We did not use inappropriate language and we were not argumentative. This is now complete and utter slander. The owners of this establishment are clearly anti-children/nasty people. We were sat out of the way of everyone so we were not a safety hazard which is why we chose the seats we chose. If we also didn't have to wait 45 minutes before an order was taken, we wouldn't have had to entertain our toddlers. This pub claims to be 'family friendly' but this is a complete...
Read moreFull of local pretentious types who look down there noses as you walk in …. It’s a Lees pub for gods sake ! Unfortunately young bar staff very young and no idea what they are doing ! Food ordered but on par with weatherspoons but twice the price . Outside area quite nice but full of chavs from nearby turf hill . Very much feel outsiders visiting this pub . You have the locals from the private estate and the chavs from the council estate and boy are the lines drawn ! Not for me poor food . Awful locals just a very a very average pub. Food dull old overcooked tasteless . DO NOT EAT HERE YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED ! Note from landlord to call and discuss ! You know what issues you have ! Lovely pub , nice location but full of chavs off council estate and tin pot millionaires thinking they are something in little cliques. Food terrible . No way will I be back truly awful experience and a large bill too Was passing again today 12/06/23 decided which drink as hot day just been to local weatherspoons paid £3. 35 for a half coors lager and a pint of sommefield cider came here it was £7.85 !! Disgraceful prices . One positive was the bar maid with red hair a young girl she was pleasant fast and efficient. Loud bald hobbit at the bar obviously local taking an age to order keeping everybody waiting . Expensive prices and annoying locals spoil this pub plus the loud woman going around shouting to staff “ no food after 730” annoying especially as only food being served whilst I was there was ice cream for bald hobbits daughter.. you would think they would be trying to push the food but it’s clear word is out the food is poor. Said it last time I won’t be back probably mean it this time....
Read moreNice enough pub. In the past before being done up we've eaten here and it's been fine. The menu suggests Sunday roast is either beef or the chefs choice. The chef obviously couldn't be arsed when we went, as it was either beef or beef. Unfortunately even when that arrived even a dog wouldn't have been able to chew through it. The mash looked like it'd been made from a packet. The carrots were floppy and the broccoli had drank all the water it'd been boiled in. There was a reasonable Yorkshire pudding, however considering you can have bottomless Yorkshire puddings and gravy with your roast I was surprised that the actual meal came with no gravy so I had to ask for some. It's worth noting that you must also have to ask for the bottomless gravy and Yorkshire puddings too as no one came to the table to see if any more were required. A side of cauliflower in a 3 cheese sauce was ordered though I wish we hadn't. The cauliflower whilst al dente tasted of water and I don't know what 3 cheeses were used but they had zero taste. Not worth the money and unfortunately my husband got to the bill before me so it was still paid, I think he didn't want me to say anything. This is the first time I've never wanted to pay for what's been put in front of me. Apparently though, the cheese and onion pie was nice but the portion was too small and the lasagne was tasty. The 1 star is based on my meal and not the rest of the tables, they can score...
