Poppies Tea Room — Restaurant in Rotherham

Stopped for afternoon tea whilst in the area; we were too late for lunch, but their "Cake Tapas" special was perfect for two! Three slices of cake (we had chocolate caramel, orange, and Victoria Sponge), and a scone with clotted cream and jam. I had tea, my friend had coffee. The rooms are cozy, and the staff are wonderful-- so friendly and had perfect recommendations for us. (Don't mind Shed World next door-- the tea room is lovely!) They have vegetarian-- AND vegan-friendly baked goods, and are excellent with accommodation of dietary restrictions and food allergies. Will definitely visit again when in the area. ...

Saturday lunchtime we found this lovely tearoom by accident but what a find! A range of sandwich fillings on a choice of bread, all nicely presented with crisps and salad garnish for just £5, freshly made to order. We then chose the cake tapas for four of us to follow, fantastic value at £20 including a pot of tea, all served on lovely China crockery. The choice of cakes was great and excellent quality, all homemade. It was served on a huge wooden board, decorated with fresh grapes, melon and strawberries. Poppies Tearoom is such a gem! The food was absolutely delicious – we tried the cheese toastie, quiche, and a jacket potato, and every bite was divine. I came along with my twins and we were made to feel so welcome, the atmosphere is warm, friendly, and really homely.

But the head turner has to be the cakes – they’re true showstoppers! Honestly, words don’t do them justice, you just have to try them yourself 😋🤤. A wonderful spot that I’ll definitely be returning to...
