The Fairways — Restaurant in Rotherham

To echo another customers review (a member of this same party,) we pre-booked a table for a party of 10 for 2:30pm today as it was to celebrate our parents wedding anniversary and we got there 15 minutes early just to be told that because we were “late” our table had been given away to another party. It was poorly explained that the person who originally took our reservation over the phone must have booked us in for 2pm by mistake and we were classed as no shows and there was nothing they could do. I do understand that mistakes happen from time to time and businesses can’t afford to have no shows, but the attitude from the member of staff was appalling! We were obviously disappointed but the staff member just kind of shrugged and said that it’s a busy time of day and even if we’d have got there for 2pm it still wouldn’t have been guaranteed we would get a table together anyway, which we weren’t made aware of at the time of booking otherwise we wouldn’t have even bothered. To add insult to injury, the table that should have been ours was still right there and completely empty and remained empty as we waited in the bar area for around 20 minutes whilst deciding what to do next, as like I said, this was supposed to be an anniversary meal and was supposed to be a special occasion. Seeing the table was still empty, we asked if we could just still have it but was refused as it was now pre-booked for another party of 12, but surely that new booking wasn’t guaranteed for that party any more than ours was! And we were right there waiting!! they obviously didn’t want our custom and the attitude was that they didn’t really care anyway. It put a real dampener on what should have been lovely time and if I could give this place 0...

Stayed here for 1 night after an event. Freindly welcome by young girl who gave us our room key. Room was spacious, clean and had everything we needed but the lighting is awful. Very dark lighting with only a few spotlights. We had the worst night and were not able to sleep due to the thin paper like walls which allows you to hear the people in the next room.

We could hear everything and i mean everything and it didn't help that the people next to us were drunk and noisy until 2am!! The constant slamming of doors was unbearable and there is no receptionist or member of staff on site after 11 when their pub shuts so there is absolutely nobody to contact who can deal with anti social guests. You're just left to put up with it and not get any sleep.

To top it all off, we were also awakened by the pungent smell of weed. Although the owner is not responsible for guests behaviour there should be someone on call to deal with any troublesome guests and ensure that everyone can have a good nights sleep as that is what we paid for afterall. We were relocated to this hotel as our original hotel booked had closed for refurbishment. On arrival the lady who checked us in was lovely and let us in our room earlier as it was ready. The room was clean and a good size so ideal for us. There was a lovely balcony at the back of the hotel over looking the golf course which when we stay again we will take advantage of. After our day/night out we returned around 11.30pm and there was a singer performing in the pub below. It was a great atmosphere so stopped for a drink and even though we could still hear it when we went back to our room as we were above the main entrance it wasn’t an issue. The only things stopping me from giving 5 stars is our room was very dark and poor lighting in the bedroom and bathroom. Which is hard for us ladies putting on our make up. But having walked past other rooms on check out they all weren’t like that. Also, new pillows needed as they were a bit flat and there was no hand soap in the bathroom. Highly recommend and we will...
