Our Christmas Day was ruined. We booked for 3pm and unfortunately we quickly realised that things were not going to plan and our dinner would be late. We had our starter at 4pm.. by 6pm we were invited to ‘queue’ for our meals finally (after a 3.5 hour wait) Even at this point we were in good spirits and trying to make the most of our day despite of the fact we had been waiting so long.. When we got there we soon realised there was hardly any vegetables left. I was thinking surely there will be more knowing that we still hadn’t had our dinner. Nope.. there was none left.. We were asked to sit back down and Wait even longer. Enough was enough! I had 2 young children with me and my 89 year old grandmother, none of us had eaten since the morning, by this time it was 6:20pm and we couldn’t stay any longer. We did get a full refund for our meals, there was no explanation or apology. I was told someone would be in touch in a couple of days? We then had to go home and find somewhere to get food from.. We ended up with a takeaway for our Christmas Day dinner!!!!
I was absolutely gutted we work so hard (like everyone else) to make sure our Christmas days are memorable. This one will be memorable but for the wrong reasons.
I woke up Boxing Day with a complete sense of sadness that our Xmas day was ruined. All our evening plans had also then not happened because we didn’t eat while nearly 8pm. I emailed The Mill Dam early Boxing Day. I wanted them to know how upset I felt and how let down I felt also.
5 days later I had still not had a response From anyone. I emailed AGAIN to say I was disappointed that I hadn’t had a response offering, an explanation, compensation or apology. I then had a response saying that their Christmas day had been ruined too and offered me and my family a 30% discount when we return.
Obviously we won’t be returning.. 30% doesn’t even come close. They would still be making money from our mis fortune. We spent over £50 Christmas Day at the bar and then £45 on a takeaway we didn’t even want but had no alternative.
I’m so disappointed, even now. Mainly because of the lack of empathy and sympathy the management have shown for ruining our day. I know In hindsight we are one family and it won’t make much difference if we don’t go to the Mill Dam again and that’s obviously what they think too.
My Nan is 89 she won’t have many Xmas days left. I just pray this wasn’t her last and I can make it up to...
Read moreI went for a meal here with my Mum and boyfriend and can honestly say it is the most awful meal I have ever had. I'd ordered southern fried chicken, which was supposed to come with some chicken strips, which never appeared. Then I discovered string in my meal. To top it off, the chicken was disgusting. The coating didn't have a flavour, it was just pure grease and really awful. The chicken itself wasn't any better. In the end, I ate my chips and corn on the cob, which ended up being the best part of a really awful meal. When they came to take the plates, I showed them the string (to which there was no reaction) and asked where the chicken strips were. We were told they had run out - obviously they didn't think it was something worth mentioning when we ordered that half the food would be missing.
My mother ordered chicken fajitas and had only 4 very small pieces of chicken in her whole meal... obviously chicken was scarce that day... and my partner couldn't cut through some of the meat on his mixed grill, and it was pointless asking him how he wanted his steak cooked, as it came back well done and he'd asked for it rare.
We all left really disappointed. It's pretty local to us and we were really looking forward to it being somewhere we could go regularly. It wasn't just the awful food, it was the lack of apologies, trying to put it right and just generally rude staff (not even looking at you or acknowledging us when we made our orders). I hope they were just having a bad day but it resulted in a really poor experience for us. I would be reluctant to...
Read moreSo very disappointed! Usually this place is spot on, a five star review all day long however tonight they were a bit off. Two of our party are vegan and usually they have at least two options for us on the menu, however tonight they only had one, the Vegan Chili. Now this wouldnt normally be an issue as their Vegan Chili is fantastic! It comes with giant tortillas which are amazing! however tonight they tried to fob us off with garlic bread which wasnt even vegan. The food also took a long time to come, a member of staff did come and tell us that they were having an issue with chips and that if we wanted to swap to fries this wouldnt be an issue. Everyone having chips was fine with this, however the fries weren't cooked, they just served us hot raw potatoes. I really feel bad about leaving this two star review as usually this place is five stars no questions asked, but i feel like due to the eat out scheme they are struggling. Maybe wait till the scheme is over and go when its not as busy, the food here is usually well worth...
