been here before a few times and had some food and drink. its not bad food is pretty decent and pints are a nice price but service has always been a little lacking but could sweep that under the carpet for the good location and selection.
only until last week I called 15 times throughout the day with no answer even once! the reason was i was trying to book a table for 10 which i knew would require booking. after no respons I hoped for the best and came anyway and there were many tables reserved which surprises me as I couldnt get through on the phone all day!
anyway we foumd a booth and could fit 4 on each side and so stood 2 chairs at the end of the table to make 10.
a few minutes after ordering drinks a staff member came by and looked at us in a very unwelcoming manner and said "thats not going to happen" as they proceded to take away the 2 extra chairs.
understandably we were a little upset by the tonalities but could see their point if vuew as perhaps the two chairs were required....
but no one took the chairs for a good 15 minutes and so we asked after this if we could use them as it would allow us to fill our table of 10.
we were met by the very singleminded point of view of "No those chairs arent fir the booth, you wont get 10 there anyway so better find somewhere else..."
even though we had 8 already sat and needed only those 2 chairs to make 10.
anyway.. we finished our drinks and soon left feeling very unwelcome and embarrassed.
please answer your phones, and please treat gueats with a little more patience and gratitude.

Read moreThe staff here are helpful and friendly, although I am gluten free and when I came on Saturday, they didn't have any jacket potatoes. Unfortunately , coeliacs can't have the chips here. Other than jacket potato, there is a choice of salad, rice and corn on the cob. So isn't a wide variety of sides coeliacs can have, but better than nothing.
There are only a couple of starters including soup and vimto butty bites and two desserts; apple crumble, as made with oats and cheesecake, to chose from.
I was a bit let down by the lack of jacket potato, so chose rice, which was ok, but very dry. I also wanted a hot chocolate and they ran out of milk.
So wasn't the best meal I have had. We went on to a theatre to see a show, so was a bit upsetting, but didn't ruin my night.
It was the second time, I've been to this restaurant. The first time was really good, so because the first time was good, I won't be put off by this, as they were busy, but was irritating, when being gluten free is so hard to eat out as it is, that I wouldn't expect them to run out of foods specifically for coeliacs.
Would highly recommend this restaurant, just fingers crossed they have the products in stock, next time. They do get busy, especially on Saturdays, so I would recommend booking a table prior...
Read moreWould have given zero stars if I could. Myself, my mum & my sister had been going here every Thursday for quiz night for nearly a year. Food is Ok for the price, however the service has got worse as times gone on & is now absolutely appalling, when waiting at the bar for a drink staff will walk by you with no acknowledgement. We booked a table as usual one week & arrived to find they had given our table to someone else! When we tried to book again for following week we were told there were no tables left, then when my Mum, who is in her 70's popped in to book a table on a Sunday she was told she should have booked on Thursday! When she explained that we had tried but our table was booked before we had a chance to she was told "first come first served" when my Mum went on to say we had been regular customers & weren't feeling valued as our table that was booked previously was given away, the manager just shrugged his shoulders at her, & when she said she felt like going elsewhere he said "your choice". No customer service or even respect. Won't ever be going...
